Right after my talk to the Assembly of the Superiors of the Siervas de Jesus de la Caridad. I was surprised that the Sisters offered to their vehicle and driver to bring me to Sorsogon City. It was November 1 and I needed to return to my community as soon as possible for the resumption of classes and to plan for the implementation of the Vice-Provincial Chapter's principles into our situation.
After leaving Iriga City, however, I was magnitized by the beautiful sight of the Porta Sancta of the Holy Cross Church of Nabua, Camarines Sur. For the past 8 years I wanted to stop in the place in order to see the beautiful Church. So, given this rare opportunity I requested the driver to enter its parking lot and I started taking pics.
The only regret I have is that due to time constraint I was not able to get valuable information concerning the history of this church and that of St. Anthony of Padua in Iriga. But, I think the Lord will provide for that later. There are still a lot of things to see in the Church. Actually the stain glass works are too numerous that I was able to take shot of two. I wanted to see the Parish Priest but time limit prevented me. Later, at home I found out that Fr. Richard and the other fathers from Sorsogon who attended the Chapter were stranded few days ago in Nabua and they took refuge in this parish and was given hospitality by the parish priest.
Here are the photos taken during that memorable visit:
Fr. Abe in the Grotto
The Statue of St. Peter at the Porta Sancta
The Holy Cross Parish, front view with plaza garden
Statue of St. Paul at the Porta Sancta
The Belfry & the right side of the Church
Complete shot of the statue of St. Peter
The Grotto outside the Church
Statue of the Angel carrying Holy Water basin at Porta Sancta
