MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL! From the Staff of "The Splendor of the Church"

The host, co-hosts and technical staff of THE SPLENDOR OF THE CHURCH greets all of you A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I know that we are still in Advent, however, since starting tomorrow the host, Fr. Abe Arganiosa, CRS will be going home to his hometown to celebrate the 9 days of Aguinaldo Masses in his Parish it may take some time before he can update for this Blog. He will be very busy not only for the Masses but also in his apologetic apostolate.
Professor Elmer Valenzuela & Fr. Abe taping the Christmas presentations
Tomorrow afternoon Fr. Abe will take the plane from Legazpi City to the City of Manila, the capital of the Philippines where he will be fetched by his father and sisters. The following day he will deliver an apologetic talk on The Sacraments of Priesthood and The Holy Eucharist at San Juan, Metro Manila in a seminar sponsored by DEFENSORES FIDEI FOUNDATION, a prominent apologetic group in the country in which Fr. Abe serves as an associate member. After the more or less 2 hour talk Fr. Abe will answer questions from the audience and he will be assisted by the staff apologist of Defensores present that day.
Prof. Elmer Valenzuela, senior co-host
Afterward, the Defensores Fidei members and associates will have their brief Advent-Christmas recollection with about 30 minutes reflection to be led also by Fr. Abe. And, it will culminate in the celebration of the Holy Mass in Latin; but not in Tridentine Mass because it will take time to prepare the audience, the servers and the celebrant. Instead, the Novus Ordo Mass will be used for the glory of God.
Fr. Abe, CRS program host
In order not to leave the program vacant, Fr. Abe decided to tape the remaining programs for this year. The one for Advent had been finished last Friday and it will be aired on December 15-21, 2007. Since it was taped during regular class days Maam Tess de Ramon was not available but the junior co-hosts, Let and John were present to support the host.
Ms. Maria Teresa de Ramon, senior co-host
The taping for Christmas Presentation was this morning [Dec. 13, 2007] with John and Let once again serving. But the organized strikes of public transportation drivers prevented them to reach the school and since the school was almost empty of College students our English and Communication professor, Mr. Elmer Valenzuela, was free to join in the program and he did.
Ms. Estelita 'Let' Basares, junior co-host
The pictures taken during the Christmas program are posted above [see the first 3 photos]. It is so wonderful to be with Kuya Elmer once again because he has been absent in the program for almost a year due to his doctoral studies. It is the Lord's blessing that he will be with me in this wonderful day because from the very first month of The Splendor of the Church he had been a constant and faithful companion.
Mr. John Estadula, junior co-host
ONCE AGAIN, MAY THE BLESSING OF THE ALMIGHTY LORD BE UPON YOU ALL THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON!

DZGN: KIDS POWER TOOK OVER THE 'HELLO, FATHER' RADIO PROGRAM!

Yesterday evening [December 12, 2007], the Wednesday Edition of DZGN's HELLO, FATHER program experienced something new and wonderful. Kids replaced Fr. Augie, Ms. Jing Rey and myself as the program's host and co-hosts.
It was really a very joyful program and the kids did very well. These wonder kids are Fr. Augie's own students from Aemilianum College, Elementary Department. They are Bea Hizola, Carmela Arroyo, Mairie Gelyne Lasala, Samantha Arcangel and Jolo Mari Andaya.
The wonder kids came to the program really prepared. Our congratulations to the kids and gratitude to their parents for allowing them to share the joys of broadcasting with their children. It was truly wonderful to be a guest in your own program and to be questioned by children on air.

CASA MIANI BOYS: PRISAA CHAMPIONS!

Gabby Valdez and Espedito 'Junjun' Bueno

In the recently concluded PRIVATE SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION [PRISAA] Sorsogon Chapter, the champions in Table Tennis double [Men] are boys from the Somascan house of charity -- CASA MIANI 'Augusta e Piera'. They are Gabby and Junjun [see pictures].

It is a great honor for us Somascans because when these two boys were entrusted into our care they were still kids in short pants. Gabby finished his Elementary and High School under the care of the Somascan Fathers in Casa Miani 'Arvedi' in Dumaguete City until he was transferred here in Sorsogon for his College education. Fr. Lino, Bro. Ambet and the rest of his Somascan formators must be beaming with pride. And, that is also something that I overwhelmingly feel now because I was in Casa Miani of Sorsogon for 6 years and was the religious assigned to take good care of Jun-jun and his companions. I remember too well when the present Table Tennis board first came. The children hardly know how to play the game properly. And I taught them every break time to the point that many of them fell in love with the game and now are champions. Of course their talents were fully developed in its present form because of the further training and diligent guidance of their present guardians: Fr. Michael Escoto, CRS, Rev. Joseph Don Castro, CRS and Bro. Joseph.

To Fr. Luigi Brenna, their superior and father, I offer my warmest congratulations. More blessings, more power and more victories to come!

ANGLICAN AND EPISCOPALIAN CHURCHES BREAKING INTO MAJOR DIVISIONS OVER HOMOSEXUALITY!

The one in pictures is Episcopalian archbishop Gene Robinson. An openly gay man who divorced his wife and abandon his children to live in an open homosexual relationship. The Episcopal Church ordained him a Bishop with the permission of the Anglican Church since the present Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, is pro homosexual union, pro gay and women priesthood. It is announced that Robinson wishes to be a 'JUNE BRIDE'!
ANGLICAN CHURCH CONTINUES TO DIVIDE
Fresno, December 10 (CNA).-Churches in California and Canada have decided to split from the Anglican Communion due to disagreement over how the church should minister to homosexuals and doctrinal matters.
The Diocese of San Joaquin and churches in British Columbia will instead align with the Argentinean Anglican Province of the Southern Cone.
The Episcopal Church is the U.S. province of the Anglican Communion which serves 77 million members world-wide.
The AP reports that Saturday, the Diocese of San Joaquin voted to split from the Episcopal Church because of their disagreements over the Bible and homosexuality.
The homosexual issue is not a key issue. It is a concern, but it is not the central concern," said Reverend Van McCalister a spokesman for the diocese.
McCalister says that some in the diocese have been disgruntled for decades over the authority of scripture and the relationship to the historical church. "Some folks have been concerned since 1955 when Bishop Pike said he no longer believed in the doctrine of the trinity, no longer believed in the resurrection, or the virgin birth, and the church was unwilling to discipline him," said McCalister.
On Saturday, clergy and lay members from the diocese voted 173-22 to remove all references to the national church from the diocese's constitution.
"We have leadership in the Episcopal Church that has drastically and radically changed directions," McCalister said. "They have pulled the rug out from under us. They've started teaching something very different, something very new and novel, and it's impossible for us to follow a leadership that has so drastically reinvented itself."
Those who accept homosexuality say they are guided by biblical teachings of tolerance. Those in disagreement say these relationships violate the Bible.
The diocese has decided to place itself under the authority Archbishop Gregory Venables of the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone as will two churches in British Columbia. According to Reuters, Bishop Donald Harvey said last week he would come out of retirement to lead the conservative Canadian Anglicans and said as many as 20 congregations could split from the Canadian Anglican Church, joining the 12 that have already placed themselves under the authority of several African archbishops.
Though theological debates began decades ago, Anglicans have been moving toward a worldwide schism since 2003, when the Episcopal Church consecrated the first openly gay bishop, V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire.
COMMENT:
During the 1970's a good number of theologians, including Catholics, criticized the Roman Catholic Church for not being attuned to the flight of the people. They accused the Church of being ultra-conservative, antiquated and cold to the situation of the people and the changes in the world. Specifically they wanted the Pope to allow the use of Contraceptions, to permit Abortions, to open the sacrament of priesthood to women and to gays, to pave the way for a married clergy and to accept as valid matrimony the homosexual unions. They claim that the reason why young people are abandoning the Church because of her inability to through these tides sweeping the ocean of the world.
The late Pope Paul VI died broken hearted because of these criticisms and severe oppositions but he never wavered. The late John Paul the Great didn't just cry his heart out. He confronted the opposition face to face. He argued that the faithful are leaving the Church and that the young people are not interested in faith anymore not because of the Church's failure to allow these things that are essentially contrary to the faith; rather the main culprit is the failure of the Catholic ministers and lay people alike to proclaim the deposit of the faith as handed down by the Apostles. He stressed that once The Splendor of Truth is given to the people and to the young in its unadulterated purity they will be inflamed with the love of God and of the Church.
The Holy Father visited almost every nation of the world to proclaim the faith, he dialogued with the youth of every continent and he became the living banner of the Splendor of the Truth and the Gospel of Life in the world and true enough the young people flocked to him like bees seaching for sweets or like deer longing for running streams. The Catholic Church, once again, proved herself to be the immovable rock of faith that even 'the gate of hell shall never prevail against'. As the ancient Chinese proverb says: "No matter how strong the wind blows the mountains shall never bow to it." The Church of Jesus is no ordinary mountain; it is built on rock not on sand or soil. THE GATE OF HELL SHALL NEVER, EVER PREVAIL!
On the other hand, the Anglican and Episcopalian Churches accepted and followed the tide of moral and doctrinal relativism. And, now they are not reaping the promised utopia they are reaping the wind. They are into major schism. They are dividing among themselves and thousands of them including Bishops are converting to the Roman Catholic Church. People wants to be Christian to be faithful to the teaching of Christ and his Apostles, not to succumb to the wishes of the crowd -- that is the sin of Korah, that is the sin of Sodom and Gomorah, that is the sin of Aaron when he allowed the Golden Calf and that was the sin of those who shouted for Barabbas.
The Catholic Church shall never give in to them. As the Book of Proverbs warns: "He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart." No! Never! THE GATE OF HELL SHALL NEVER, EVER PREVAIL AGAINST IT! [cf. Matthew 16:18-19]

The miraculous image of Nstra. Señora de Guadalupe on the tilma of Juan Diego
UPDATE:

Our Lady of Guadalupe Attracting Record Numbers

By Jaime Septién

MEXICO CITY, DEC. 11, 2007 (Zenit.org).- Leaders at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, which houses St. Juan Diego's tilma with the image of the Virgin, say that by Wednesday, some 7 million pilgrims will have visited the church in the last four days.

Wednesday is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the day that brings the most pilgrims to the site, located in Mexico's mountain capital. But the four-day span between Dec. 8 -- feast of the Immaculate Conception -- and Dec. 12 traditionally brings overflowing crowds.

This Dec. 12 commemorates the 476th anniversary of the last of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Juan Diego. Juan Diego was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002.

Each year between 18 - 20 million pilgrims visit the basilica, making it Christianity's most visited sanctuary and one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world. There are days on which the basilica is visited by up to 120,000 people.

The caretakers at the basilica expect that all attendance records will be broken this year with the arrival of 7 million visitors in only four days -- 2 million pilgrims are expected Wednesday.

San Juan Diego kneeling in prayer

Today's memorial recalls the apparations of Mary of the hill of Tepeyac in Mexico from 9-12 of December 1531 to the native convert, Juan Diego. The Virgen de Guadalupe is known to the Aztecs as Tecoatlaxope which is translated into Guadalupe in Spanish but the literal meaning, however, is 'She will crush the serpent of stone'.
This is actually an allusion to the Biblical passage in Genesis 3:15 - the passage known as the Proto-Evangelium when Yahweh, the God the Father, announced that the Mother of the Messiah will be in perpetual enmity with the Serpent [Satan in disguise]. It is also very meaningful for the Aztecs because in their pagan religion they were worshipping the stone-god with the appearance of snake before which thousands of men and virgins were being sacrificed brutally annually.
The apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary led to the mass conversion of natives to Catholic Christianity. Thus, she was declared patroness of Mexico and of the entire Latin America. She is also the patroness of the Philippines as declared by Pope Pius XI in 1935 because the church in the Philippines was once part of the church of Mexico.
SAN JUAN DIEGO
Juan Diego was recognized by the Church soon after the apparition. He expressed a deep love for the Holy Eucharist, and by special permission of the Bishop he received Holy Communion three times a week, a highly unusual occurrence in those times. He spent his days staying in Tepeyac in prayer and narrating million times over to countless of pilgrims his experience of the apparation.
In 1666, at a Church hearing called the Informaciones Guadalupana, Juan Diego was called a holy man, and in 1723 a formal investigation into this life was ordered by Archbishop Lanziego y Equilaz. On Jan. 9, 1987, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints declared Juan Diego venerable. Pope John Paul the Great beatified him on May 6, 1990, during a Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, declaring Dec. 9 the feast of Juan Diego and invoking him as “protector and advocate of the indigenous peoples.”
Controversy over the historical authenticity of Juan Diego was stirred in 1996 by Father William Schulenburg, a longtime abbot of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who called Juan Diego a mythical character.
The Vatican subsequently established a commission of 30 researchers from various countries to investigate the question. The commission's view was that Juan Diego had indeed existed, and the results of their research were presented to the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints on Oct. 28, 1998. Among research documents submitted at that time were 27 Guadalupe Indian documents. One, called the “Escalada,” co-authored by Valeriano and Franciscan Friar Bernardino de Sahagun, contained a death certificate of Juan Diego.

POPE BENEDICT XVI's 2ND ENCYCLICAL LETTER 'SPES SALVI' ALREADY SOLD OVER 1 MILLION COPIES

One million copies of new encyclical already sold
ROME, December 10 (CNA).-The Vatican's publisher Libreria Editrice Vaticana is reporting that over one million copies the new encyclical by Pope Benedict XVI, Spe Salvi, have been sold since it was released on November 30.
The Holy Father's second encyclical is devoted to the topic of Christian hope, "in a world dominated by disbelief and distrust present in questions related to the transcendent," the Vatican publisher indicated.
"Man needs God, otherwise he remains without hope," as "the God in whom Christians believe presents himself as the true hope of the contemporary world because He opens for him the hope of salvation," the publisher stated.

FORMER ARCHBISHOP OF CHARISMATIC EPISCOPAL CHURCH CONVERTED TO THE CATHOLIC FAITH

The Vatican & the Tiber River shining through the night
Former CEC Archbishop and Wife Become Catholic By Deacon Keith Fournier 12/11/2007
Catholic Online (www.catholic.org)
"Sandy and I had found ourselves moving deeper into catholic Christianity during our tenure in the CEC. More recently, the draw toward full communion in the Roman Catholic Church had grown greater and became a very strong call in the six months prior to our conversion. We are delighted to continue our service to Jesus Christ and His Church as Catholics.” Randy Sly
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (Catholic Online) - Randolph W. Sly, former Archbishop of the Charismatic Episcopal Church and one of the early founders of the CEC in 1992, was received into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church, along with his wife, Sandra, on November 12, 2006 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Sly indicated this decision came from an extended time of discernment for the two of them. “We were at a point last summer personally and ecclesiastically in the CEC where I felt a change was coming. Sandy and I had found ourselves moving deeper into catholic Christianity during our tenure in the CEC. More recently, the draw toward full communion in the Roman Catholic Church had grown greater and became a very strong call in the six months prior to our conversion. We are delighted to continue our service to Jesus Christ and His Church as Catholics.”
Fr. James Kauffmann, Pastor of St. Benedict Catholic Church issued the following statement: “It was my great joy to receive Randy and Sandy Sly into the full communion of the Roman Catholic Church at the Divine Liturgy at Saint Benedict Catholic Parish on November 12, 2006. What a glorious day it was! It was also a wonderful gift to, along with Deacon Keith Fournier, work with the Sly's during their period of catechesis leading up to their reception. Their love for the Lord and the ancient yet ever fresh Catholic Faith is an inspiration. Their prior years of service to the Lord have only prepared them for what lies ahead as they respond to God's continuing invitation to serve Him in the New Evangelization called for by the late Servant of God John Paul II. We welcome them home and eagerly anticipate all that lies ahead for them in the fullness of Catholic faith.”
Even prior to his involvement in the CEC Sly had been known for several years as a major voice of the “Convergence Movement” where the evangelical, charismatic, and liturgical/sacramental streams of the church were coming together as “one mighty river of God.” He has been in active pastoral ministry for over 30 years, first with the Wesleyan (Methodist) Church and then with the Charismatic Episcopal Church, where he last served as Archbishop of the Eastern Province and Supervising Archbishop of the Office of Communications.
Currently, Sly is President of Common Good, a way, a work, and a movement dedicated to the four pillars of the Church’s social teaching: life, family, freedom, and solidarity with the poor. A published author and communications specialist, he is also at work on several book projects as well as other commercial writing and media projects.
The Sly’s reside in the Northern Virginia community of Potomac Falls, where they are active members of Our Lady of Hope Parish. They have three grown children, all of whom are married and live nearby.

Feast: POPE ST. DAMASUS I, The Pope who established the Canon of the Holy Bible

Pope St. Damasus I was pope from 366-384AD
Probably born near the city of Idanha-a-Nova in what is present-day Portugal. His life coincided with the rise of Constantine I and the reunion and redivision of the Western and Eastern Roman Empire as well as what is sometimes known as the Constantinian shift associated with the widespread legitimization of Christianity and the later adoption of Christianity as the religion of the Roman state.
Damasus I is known to have been raised in the service of the church of the martyr St. Laurence in Rome, and following the death of Pope Liberius, he succeeded to the Papacy amidst factional violence.
Damasus faced accusations of murder and adultery in his early years as pope. The neutrality of these claims have come into question with some suggesting that the accusations were motivated by the schismatic conflict with the supporters of Arianism.
His personal problems were contrasted with his religious accomplishments, which included restoring the Basilica di San Lorenzo fuori le Mura, appointing St. Jerome as his personal secretary, creating (through Jerome) a standard Latin translation of the Bible, known as the Vulgate, that replaced existing Vetus Latina, and translated from the original Hebrew instead of the Greek Septuagint, and presiding over the Council of Rome in 382, at which, according to the 6th century document Decretum Gelasianum, the modern canon of Sacred Scriptures was first set down.
St. Jerome, the secretary of Pope Damasus who translated the Bible from original Hebrew and Greek into Latin. Considered as the greatest Biblical scholar of all time.

ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS PREPARATIONS IN 'THE SPLENDOR OF THE CHURCH' TV

This coming December 14 our The Splendor of the Church host, Rev. Fr. Abe P. Arganiosa, CRS will take his Christmas vacation and will stay in his hometown from that date until January 2, 2008. For this reason he has to tape 2 episodes for the program one for Advent and another for Christmas.
For the past 2 years, the program's Christmas and Advent episodes were led by Fr. Abe together with Mr. Elmer Valenzuela and Ms. Tess de Ramon. They were brought live on AITV5 since Fr. Abe stayed in Sorsogon then. Since the programs are taped this time both Mr. Valenzuela and Ms. de Ramon will not be available because of their responsibilities in their own respective profession. Thus, the two college students serving as junior co-hosts of the program are once again called for help. Thank God, both of them generously made themselves available for the program and for the Lord.
This is the first appearance of both junior co-host in the program since the opening of the second semester last month. And even now, it was very difficult for us to find time together. Let and John do not belong to the same course. The former is a 3rd year Mass Communication while the latter is a 2nd year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science major in Information Technology.
It is a blessing from God that these young people are sharing their time and talents for the Glory of God and The Splendor of the Church.

SORSOGON GEARS FOR CHRISTMAS!

As the Christmas Feast is approaching the City and the entire Province of Sorsogon shines with the symbols of Christmas honoring Jesus -- the Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords. Our Christmas decors reflect the economic situation of the country and the culture of the people. They are modest, simple and made of native materials common to the place. But still they shine within our hearts because they are the manifestation of the faith of the people unlike those of others that are very expensive but they are mere business decorative and are not the genuine expressions of the inhabitants faith. DISCOVER THE SISTERS OF DEATH!

With all the problems of the world the U.N. & some Nuns [hopefully not] consider these babies as enemies no. 1
SPECIAL COMMENTARY: Sisters of Life or Death? By Jennifer Fionnait Orchard 12/8/2007 Celebrate Life Magazine (CLmagazine.org.)
A young Catholic woman, in a sincere effort to discern a call to the religious life, uncovers a frightening connection between certain religious communities of sisters and a UN program which promotes abortion and contraception.
STAFFORD, VA ( Celebrate Life) - At age 19, I am a young Catholic woman who is interested in religious life. I was so inspired by the life and work of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini that I wanted to join her order, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart. As I considered it, I went to the sisters’ American Stella Maris Province web site, but inspiration turned to shock.
First, I was disappointed to find that the sisters no longer wear the beautiful, trademark Mother Cabrini-style black habits that signify they are the brides of Christ. Like many other young people, I strongly believe that a religious habit is a great aid to the preservation of our Catholic identity.
No straight answers
However, what really troubled me in visiting the Missionary Sisters’ website was the mention that they work with the United Nations. Therefore, I wrote to them voicing my concern and asking if they condemned the coercive UN population control pro-grams. I further cited examples of the UN refusing to give food or medical help to impoverished women or their children, unless the women agreed to be sterilized.
Sister Dianne Olmstead, MSC wrote back, but wouldn’t give me a straight answer. She said the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart order was a member of a nongovernmental organization (NGO) called UNANIMA, which worked for the “promotion of women,” but she wouldn’t say whether UNANIMA condemns UN population control programs.
According to the Brigidine Sisters of New Zealand, another member order, UNANIMA stands for United Nations and anima, which they describe as meaning “a feminine life principle.” However, the word “anima” means “life” or “soul,” whether female or male.
After Sister Diane’s reply, I wrote to her again, asking if the nuns denounce the UN’s involvement in abortion, contraception and sterilization. She sent a vague statement of “being against all these forms of injustice,” but she would never say if the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, Stella Maris Province, denounce the UN programs or the trade in human fetal body parts which are used for research and cosmetic treatments in the Ukraine and Barbados. Although her order belongs to UNANIMA, she said she didn’t know what the NGO actually does and that I should check the UNANIMA web site.
Alarming links
There UNANIMA International describes itself as an NGO “committed to work for justice at the international level in harmony with the charter of the United Nations for the social and economic advancement of all peoples.” It was founded in 2002 by “representatives of seven congregations of women religious.”
UNANIMA “aligns its work with current United Nations efforts for the peoples of the world.” According to a UN document about NGOs, such groups give reports to a UN committee on how the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is being implemented around the world. It says: “The Committee welcomes country-specific information from nongovernmental organizations, in the form of alternative or shadow reports.”
The UNANIMA web site also links to the UN, UNICEF, UNAIDS and CEDAW.
CEDAW reports are advertised right on UNANIMA’s web site, without any sort of disclaimer. There is nothing on the UNANI-MA site condemning or even cautioning against CEDAW, which the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute calls “one of the most dangerous, anti-family, anti-life schemes ever conceived by the radicals who dominate UN policy.” Nor, for that matter, do the sisters offer a word of caution about UNICEF, which is actively involved in funding abortion and contraception.
Nixing culture and tradition
I followed the UNANIMA link to the CEDAW web site, where, right on the first page, the CEDAW Convention is described as “the only human rights treaty which affirms the reproductive rights of women” and “targets culture and tradition as influential forces shaping gender roles and family relations.”
In fact, the CEDAW treaty mandates the legalization of abortion. It says, “Countries that have ratified or acceded to the Convention are legally bound to put its provisions into practice. They are also to submit national reports at least every four years, on measures they have taken to com-ply with their treaty obligations.”
To assure that CEDAW policies are implemented, countries are instructed to “establish tribunals to ensure elimination of all acts of discrimination against women by per-sons, organizations or enterprises.”
Because CEDAW forbids any distinctions or exclusions based on gender, it could be used to persecute the Catholic Church because of its “exclusion” of women from the sacred priesthood.
Furthermore, CEDAW’s proclamation of women’s “right to free choice of profession and employment” turns out to be a command for the worldwide legalization of prostitution.
And CEDAW’s ban on “any distinction, exclusion or restriction based on sex” is an order for the legalization of same-sex “marriage.”
According to the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, the CEDAW ban on “orientation bias” would likely legalize pedophilia and child molestation, as if some people are “oriented” towards molesting children.
CEDAW also promotes the outlawing of Mother’s Day under the pretense that it “perpetuates traditional stereotypes.”
Educating sisters
Consequently, I wrote to all the religious orders on the UNANI-MA web site, asking each of them how they, as Catholic nuns, can support CEDAW. So far, I have received no reply.
I find it hard to believe that the sisters are ignorant of CEDAW’s abortion agenda, since it is clearly stated as “women’s reproductive rights” and they link to the treaty.
Besides this, the UNANIMA site states that its board of directors, made up of nuns from the various orders, “educates our members about the programs and activities of the United Nations.”
UNANIMA’s board of directors consists of nuns from the member congregations, plus a “coalition coordinator.” They determine the policies and activities of the coalition. Officers on the board of directors are President Jean M. O’ Meara, SHCJ; Vice President Mary Lou Simcoe, SUSC; and Secretary Stella Storch, OP for CSA.
In addition, at least one of the UNANIMA member orders, the Holy Union Sisters, is also linked to the Leadership Conferenceof Women Religious (LCWR), which promotes radical feminist agendas in American religious orders.
For example, Sister Joan Chittister, a keynote speaker for the LCWR, was a supporter of the23 nuns disciplined by the Vatican for signing the infamous New YorkTimes1983 statement supporting abortion and she’s a strong sup-porter of CEDAW.
Reaping what they’ve sown
I wanted to join the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, but I was grieved to find that they now have little in common with their holy foundress, Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini. In fact, Mother Cabrini would have been horrified at being connected to the murder of babies through abortifacient contraception and abortion itself.
A third of my generation has been snuffed out by the culture of death and I will take no part in any order that helps to perpetuate the continued slaughter of my brothers and sisters. With groups like UNANIMA, it’s no wonder that these orders fail to attract vocations.
Thus, the “Sisters of Death” ultimately reap what they’ve sown.

1 YEAR CELEBRATION FOR THE 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES APPARITIONS STARTS!

NEWS REPORT:
Catholics mark 150th anniversary of Lourdes apparitions by Alexandra Lesieur Sat Dec 8, 11:10 AM ET
LOURDES, France (AFP) - Catholics began marking Saturday 150 years since a young shepherdess saw visions of the Virgin Mary, with thousands of pilgrims expected at her shrine at Lourdes over the next year, including Pope Benedict XVI.
The celebrations, coinciding with the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a key date in the Catholic calendar, began with a mass celebrated by Indian Cardinal Ivan Dias before some 20,000 faithful, including 400 priests, bishops and other cardinals.
It was followed by the solemn opening of the gates leading to the pilgrim trail to the holy places where Bernadette Soubirous lived and experienced 18 apparitions of the mother of Jesus Christ between February and July 1858.
These include the church where she was baptised, the former prison cell where her poverty-stricken family lived, the grotto where she had her visions and a chapel.
Preceded by a wave of brightly-coloured banners of the local dioceses, the pilgrims marched in procession to the grotto and the chapel.
On Friday evening they had visited the other two spots in a torchlight parade. "It is a way of concentrating on the essential details," Bishop of Lourdes Jacques Perrier said.
Perrier said that while there had been no new building to mark the 150th anniversary, unlike the basilica constructed at the time of the centenary, five coloured mosaics of gospel scene would be unveiled on the grey church.
The pope is expected to visit the site at some point, "certainly in autumn" during the celebrations, Perrier said.
The town of Lourdes in southwestern France is one of the main pilgrimage sites in the cult of Mary maintained by the Catholic Church, attracting millions of Christians from around the world.
The series of visions experienced by Bernadette Soubirous included confirmation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, proclaimed four years later by Pope Pius IX, which declares that Mary was "without sin" when Jesus Christ was conceived.
The Vatican said earlier this week that Pope Benedict XVI would grant indulgences for a limited time to pilgrims who visit Lourdes for the 150th anniversary.
In the Catholic Church, indulgences are remittances of suffering for sins. In order to go to heaven, it is believed one must 'repair' the harm committed on earth before death.
In Rome, the pope prayed for the Lourdes pilgrims who were "honouring the Virgin Mary in this jubilee year of the 150th anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady to Saint Bernadette."
He was speaking on his annual visit to a statue of Mary in central Rome to mark the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
He laid a large bouquet of white roses at the foot of the statue and knelt briefly before delivering a homily.
"I ask the Virgin Mary to watch over the inhabitants ... of Lourdes and I grant all of them, as well as the pilgrims attending the ceremonies, an affectionate apostolic blessing," he said.
St. Bernadette Soubirous, her picture as a girl and her incorrupt body
It is but fitting that the celebration started on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin. It is because when she appeared to St. Bernadette on March 25, 1858 [the 16th apparition] the Blessed Virgin identified herself as The Immaculately Conceived One after several questioning from the young saint:
"I went every day for a fortnight, and each day I asked her who she was–and this petition always made her smile. After the fortnight I asked her three times consecutively. She always smiled. At last I tried for the fourth time. She stopped smiling. With her arms down, she raised her eyes to heaven and then, folding her hands over her breast she said, 'I am the Immaculate Conception.' Then I went back to M. le Curé to tell him that she had said she was the Immaculate Conception, and he asked was I absolutely certain. I said yes, and so as not to forget the words, I had repeated them all the way home."

A MIRACLE BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT:

Dr. Pierre Romaine Dozous, the town physician, originally watched the apparitions from a skeptical viewpoint. He believed Bernadette, whom he knew well, was in her right mind aside from the apparitions; he planned to write a medical article discussing the idea that one can have illusions or hallucinations without being insane.

He reported: "Bernadette seemed to be even more absorbed than usual in the Appearance upon which her gaze was riveted. I witnessed, as did also every one else there present, the fact which I am about to narrate. She was on her knees saying with fervent devotion the prayers of her Rosary which she held in her left hand while in her right was a large blessed candle, alight. The child was just beginning to make the usual ascent on her knees when suddenly she stopped and, her right hand joining her left, the flame of the big candle passed between the fingers of the latter. Though fanned by a fairly strong breeze, the flame produced no effect upon the skin which it was touching. Astonished at this strange fact, I forbade anyone there to interfere, and taking my watch in my hand, I studied the phenomenon attentively for a quarter of an hour. At the end of this time Bernadette, still in her ecstasy, advanced to the upper part of the Grotto, separating her hands. The flame thus ceased to touch her left hand. Bernadette finished her prayer and the splendour of the transfiguration left her face. She rose and was about to quit the Grotto when I asked her to show me her left hand. I examined it most carefully, but could not find the least trace of burning anywhere upon it. I then asked the person who was holding the candle to light it again and give it to me. I put it several times in succession under Bernadette's left hand but she drew it away quickly, saying 'You are burning me!'. I record this fact just as I have seen it without attempting to explain it. Many persons who were present at the time can confirm what I have said."

THE JUDGMENT OF THE CHURCH:

On January 18, 1862, Bishop Laurence, the Bishop of Tarbes, gave the solemn declaration: "We are inspired by the Commission comprising wise, holy, learned and experienced priests who questioned the child, studied the facts, examined everything and weighed all the evidence. We have also called on science, and we remain convinced that the Apparitions are supernatural and divine, and that by consequence, what Bernadette saw was the Most Blessed Virgin. Our convictions are based on the testimony of Bernadette, but above all on the things that have happened, things which can be nothing other than divine intervention".

'THE GOLDEN COMPASS' FAILED TO DELIVER IN NORTH AMERICAN BOX OFFICE

The movie The Golden Compass was marketed by On Line Cinema as a rival to the Lord of the Rings and The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. Well, it was not just a comparison, actually it was challenge. The authors of the former movies are both active Christian believers who utilized their power of the pen to proclain the truth of the Christian faith while the latter is an active atheist who also used his pen to undermine Christianity.
Well, as it appears The Golden Compass is not even iron or lead for movie critics but a rotten tomato [see the post below] and just now the earliest report on its Box Office record shows a disappointing USD8m only. Imagine, at the time when Harry Potter and Spider Man opens with about USD60m first day haul this one is very poor indeed. You can check the latest Box Office results at Box Office Mojo:
They are thinking that they can duplicate the money making power of Da Vinci Code despite the fact that it, too, was dumped by critics. They are in for surprises. There is an old maxim: 'You can fool some people sometime but you cannot fool all the people at all time.' True, indeed! We want a genuinely 'noble' movie and that is PRINCE CASPIAN not The Golden Charade made of artificial Bronze.

THE ATHEISTIC AND ANTI-CATHOLIC MOVIE 'THE GOLDEN COMPASS' IS A ROTTEN TOMATO DECLARED BY CRITICS!

There is a saying that 'Not everything that glitters is gold!' Of course, because some of them are ROTTEN TOMATOES. And, thanks be to God the atheistic, pro-Gnostic, anti-Christian and anti-Catholic movie The Golden Compass is a certified Rotten Tomato. Well, it's not my own judgment. That's actually what the judges did through the Tomato-Meter - the website that gathers all the reviews of professional movie critics in the United States and those who received at least 60% positive reviews are considered 'Fresh' Tomato while those below are declared 'Rotten' Tomato.
The said website gathers hundreds of reviews from Time, Newsweek, New York Times, Washington Post, etc. You name it, they have it. He, he, he... And yes, as of this post The Golden Compass is a poor... very poor... MISERABLE... DESTITUTE... 43%! Shame, shame, shame... poor atheists. You can check the Rotten Tomato website here:
As of now the website has gathered 138 critical reviews and so far only 59 are Fresh while the Rotten rate got the overwhelming 79 with an average of 5.6/10. They failed once again. The author, Philip Pullman [pictured below] must be scratching his head in shame together with the director. Thank God, the movie of the great Catholic writer J.R.R. Tolkein, whose magnum opus -- The Lord of the Rings trilogy had attained the highest critical and box office success than this golden junk and the Da Vinci Delusion. They are nothing but second rate, trying hard... copy cat! [He, he, he... that is one of the unforgettable words in one of the most memorable scenes in Philippine movies.]
As of now I don't have the time for a thorough critic of the original book from which the movie is based. But, I will get some of the best ones done by our Catholic apologists online. Just wait for that. But in the meantime if you want to have a glimpse right in the mind of Philip Pullman, here is an excerpt of his 2001 interview with the BBC:
In The Amber Spyglass, Mary Malone tells Lyra and Will that the Christian religion is a very powerful and convincing mistake. Is that your opinion?
[Pullman:] I think I’d agree with her, yes.
What do you find powerful and convincing about it?
[Pullman:] It’s a very good story. It gives an account of the world and what we’re doing here that is intellectually coherent and explains a great deal. But then so do other stories. The Gnostic myth, for example, explains a great deal in a very different way. Very different. The Christian story gives us human beings a very important and prominent part. We are the ones who Jesus came to redeem from the consequences of sin, which our parents – you know. It is a very dramatic story and we are right at the heart of it, and a great deal depends on what we decide. This is an exciting position to be in, but unfortunately it doesn’t gel at all with the more convincing account that is given by Darwinian evolution – and the scientific account is far more persuasive intellectually. Far more persuasive. And, as I have said, there is another consequence of any belief in a single god, and that is that it is a very good excuse for people to behave very badly.
