THE SOMASCANS' MOST BELOVED PRAYER FROM ST. JEROME EMILIANI

St. Jerome Emiliani, the founder of the Somascan Order, praying before the Crucifix with his orphans and followers. His companions later testified that the saint was regularly praying before the Holy Cross on top of a Hill and he was crying so much asking forgiveness for his sins and he kept on repeating these words night after night:

"DULCISSIME JESU NE SIS MIHI IUDEX SED SALVATOR!" [O most sweet Jesus, do not be my Judge but my Savior!"]

  2. Dear Jayson,

Nice to hear from you again Jayson.

Concerning the prayer of St. Jerome, of course you can use it. You can recite and pray it everyday and even share it freely to others.

That prayer is a sacred heritage from our founder St. Jerome Emiliani so it is a Somascan Prayer but it is also part of the Universal Treasury of Prayers and Spirituality of the Catholic Church. Just like the prayers of St. Francis of Assissi and any other saints they can be freely recited by any Catholic or even non Catholic if they wish to enrich their spiritual life with it.

Actually that prayer is only a part of a longer prayer of St. Jerome. Hope to post it here soon once I checked if it is not yet given here.

God bless you Jayson. Please e-mail me at splendor236@yahoo.com
