PROFESSION of the SOMASCAN CHARISM
Guided by the power of God the Father,
the wisdom of the Son
and the strength of the Holy Spirit,
we receive the gift of grace granted to St. Jerome and handed down to us as an experience of the Spirit.
Our Founder converted to God made himself poor
and devoted his whole being to serving the poor.
We believe in the love of God,
who is a father of mercy and infinite tenderness, and intends,
and intends to include us in the number of his beloved children and makes us holy. We trust in him alone, source of all good, for those who have faith and hope in him are filled with charity. We announce his fatherhood, that gives comfort to the poor and consolation to the orphaned.
We believe in the love of the Son,
perfect image of the face of the Father.
We serve the poor as those who best represent Christ to us, and from him, our teacher, we learn how to love them with perfect and active charity, with profound humility and patience.
We follow naked the naked Crucified,
Carrying with him the light burden of the cross.
We believe in the Spirit – Love, Father of the poor,
who unites us as a new family in faith.
We stay with Christ in his own house, we break the bread of brotherhood. We obey our Superiors and our Rule of life
and all together we obey God who commands us to love one another.
We put work, devotion and charity as the foundation of our life.
We believe in the love of Mary,
Mother of graces and liberation force. We recourse to her maternal intercession
asking her to lead us to conversion,
that she may obtain for us a meek
and humble heart capable of reciprocating love with love,
so that along with the whole Church, we may be able to return the holiness that was during the time of the apostles,
and to attract and unite to God the whole of mankind.
