The Artwork depicting the Spanish Government and a Friar bringing the Catholic Faith to the Philippines from Spain to Latin America then to the country
These artworks beautifully depict the Evangelization of the Filipinos. They are located in the area allocated for the lightings of the Candles. The walls around have been enriched by these works serving like a large book explaining how the Catholic Faith spread all over the archipelago.
The enemies of the Church always declare that the Philippines became Catholic through the sword. That our forefathers were forced against their will to abandon their old beliefs in favor of the Christian God. However, the best refutation for me of this claim is the very deep and strong love of the Cebuanos to the Catholic Faith and their ardent devotion to the Santo Niño de Cebú.
No nation, no people, no family and no culture will ever love something that is inhumanly, forcefully given to them for keep. Once the enforcers are no longer in power they will spit on it and reject it inasmuch as they want. This is true for relationship, for tyrannical and dictatorial governments and for religions.
The Cebuanos are obviously charmed, enamored, fell deeply in-loved with Catholicism and its God and they proclaimed it in almost every aspect of their lives and in their manifestation of faith. This is not enforced by sword; this is love voluntarily and freely chosen.
