CEBU TOUR, Part 12 Meeting Atty. Mars Bacalso of Catholic Faith Defenders

Fr. Abe, Atty. Bacalso and Bro. G-One Paisones

Finally, I am giving you now the final chapter of the series of posts about my Jan. 28-Feb 1, 2009 visit to Cebu. The fitting climax happened right after we left the Archdiocesan Museum. Bro. Ryan received a message from Atty. Bacalso that he had finished his classes at San Carlos University and he is ready to meet us. So, we left the Museum and crossed the street and saw Atty. Bacalso really dressed as lawyer in a dark green business suit. But in the photos he removed it because the heat of the sun was still heaven then.

In the picture above, Atty. was having difficulty because the sun was very hot and blinding then. It is a great honor for me to have met one of the valiant defenders of the faith in the South. Atty. Bacalso is not only a prominent lawyer, he is also a Doctor of Education, a long time professor in various universities in Cebu, a Radio personality and an orator of Ciceronian skills.

His debating skills are deadly because he, together with Mayor Soc Fernandez and their fellow Catholic Faith Defenders, have faced the best of the best debaters of other religions in the South. It is no wonder that other religions are not that strong in Cebu and in Davao. Because in these areas the CFD are a force to reckon with. They are present personally to face any debater in Cebu Plaza every week.

Much more, the other religion apologists are free to visit their radio programs in order to have exchange of ideas or even debate on air. It is striking that despite the heated exchanges they remain civil and respectful of each other.

Atty. was so kind that he even brought us to his home atop a mountain where there is a very beautiful view of the newly constructed highway and the Cebu City. Very panoramic, the air was so cool and the place very quiet. There is even a seminary nearby.

The photos inside the Radio booth were not from my camera but from Bro. Ryan. I was no longer in Cebu then so that I was not part of that radio episode.

THANKS BE TO GOD FOR THE CATHOLIC FAITH DEFENDERS!
