A DEEPER LOOK AT THE CENTRO ESCOLAR UNIVERSITY - ITS CHAPEL, CAMPUS, PASSAGEWAYS & MUSEUM

The Main Altar of Centro Escolar University Chapel in Mendiola

Once again I want to post about my visit to Centro Escolar University. The pictures that I've posted earlier were from Bro. Jayson Leones. Now, I want to present the pictures that I've personally taken because when I take pictures I have reasons why I made the shots. I want to capture the faith expressions of the people in the area, their culture and arts and the architectural beauty of the place. I believe that these shots have captured for me the 'essence of CEU' as I viewed it that day.

The Blessed Sacrament and the Image of the Immaculate Conception

I started in its Chapel. I looked at the Altar and found the Blessed Virgin and the Blessed Sacrament at its center. Then the various images of Saints installed therein. They speak to us of the founders strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, to St. Jude Thaddeus whose miraculous shrine is nearby and to Sts. Anthony of Padua, Martin de Porres, St. Therese and the two Filipino martyrs.

The CEU Chapel viewed from the Main Altar

Also, the walls and staircase of the entire school is decorated by Sacred Images attesting to the founders and the school's deep adherence to Catholic Faith. For sure the Catholics in Europe and the United States are very jealous of this because in their countries the signs of faith are under challenged and even considered illegal in public places and institutions. It only goes to show that the Philippines is not yet corrupted by the follies of the West. Now, they are trying to import to us their rejection of things sacred and their hatred of life expressed through abortion and contraceptions.

The State of St. Joseph at the right side of the Altar. It is built on top of the founders' remains.

It was summer season when I visited but I've seen the campus filled with young people lining for their enrollments. The CEU must have many students. Let us pray that these students will be able to grow not only in knowledge but also in wisdom, not only in wisdom but also in faith and not only in faith but also in charity.

The beautiful stained glass of CEU Chapel showing St. Therese of the Child Jesus together with the two Filipino Saints - St. Lorenzo de Manila & Blessed Pedro Calungson of Visayas, both martyrs of the faith.

Another very beautiful stained glass in CEU Chapel. This one portrays the Two Hearts: The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The old bed of one of the founders. It is so beautiful, with artistic engravings. It must be an example of those used by the rich people of the pre-World War II era. The tragic Maria Clara, the heroine of our National Hero Jose Rizal's novels: Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
