The so-called action-packed thriller ANGELS AND DEMONS starring Tom Hanks and Ron Howard based from the bestselling Book of anti-Catholic and anti-Christ Dan Brown has been receiving ROTTEN TOMATOES from Film critics in manner much, much worse than its predescessor THE DA VINCI CODE.

Same here faith defender. I decided not to talk about it before the showing. I will post my attacks after this movie became a non issue. But I will focus on the novel rather than the film.

I haven't watched both of those films yet but I heard that the Da Vinci Code states that Jesus and Mary Magdalene fell in love with each other while the Angels and Demons states that the Church's survival relies on that Character. How sacrilegous!!

1.Brown claims that Copernicus was murdered by the Church.FACT: Copernicus died of a stroke and he was supported by the Catholic Church in all his works and researches...
2.Brown claims that Winston Churchill was Catholic.FACT: he was Anglican and Churchill was more interested in brandy and cigars and ending nazi dominance in europe,religion was the farthest thing from his mind..
3.Brown claims that Bernini was a secret atheist.FACT:Bernini was a very devout Catholic who went to Mass everyday and is a follower of St. Ignacius....
4.Brown claims that Bernini and Galileo were members of the Illuminati.FACT: the Illuminati was founded in 1776, Bernini died in 1680, while Galileo died in 1642.
5.Pope Urban vii banished Bernini's statue "The ectacy of St. Theresa" because it was to 'racy' for the Vatican.FACT: the statue was for Cardinal Carnaro and was specifically made for the Carnaro Chapel not the Vatican and was completed eight years after Pope Urbans death..
This are but a few very blatant historical errors that Dan Brown claims as true history in his novel. which leads one to believe he is only out to make money and true history be damned!
Imagine portraying Bernini an athiest and a key member of the Illuminati in a plot to bring down the Catholic Church. Bernini was one the the greatest baroque artist of his time and to put him in the center of a conspiracy to destroy the Catholic Church he loves so much, i think Bernini deserves far better than Dan Brown made him out to be.It's like claiming that Steven Spielberg is a card carrying member of the nazi party and is completely devoted to Adolph Hitler. Film lovers should be tearing their hair in disbelief!

Dan Brown is a heretical, a good-for-nothing person who wants to attack the church just like a piece of cake for Him. This is an offensive attack to our Holy Mother, the Church.
By the way Father, please do include in your prayers and Holy Masses for my Mother, Teresita Leones for speedy recovery (she had just a knee operation last week) and for her Birthday (she will turn 65 yrs old)on May 21, thursday.
Also Father, for Sister April Carrido and another companion, Kathrina San Pablo because, they are having their search-in at Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Congregation today(May 19) until thurs(May 21), that they may discern more their vocation.

The film of Angels and Demons is genuinely horrid. It has no detectable dignity. One of the worst films I have ever, ever seen.
ReplyDeleteIt made me laugh several times. At all the wrong moments. I didn't understand the plot at all.
One critic at Rotten Tomatoes said that grace or inspiration are entirely absent in every single scene of the Angels film.
Another critic called it "The stupidest film ever made." Stirring words.
And I'd have to agree. It's a truly bizarre movie. Laughable and dull. When God withdraws His grace from something, it is very apparent. Never was this more true than for this idiotic show.
I recall hearing about the Angels and Demons film several years ago, when it was first announced. Around that time I was studying the rosary; intrigued by the reputed power of this particular prayer. So I prayed it every day for this movie to fail. And fail it did. What a response.
The lifeless atmosphere in Angels and Demons was precisely the same as in The Da Vinci Code film. Stagnant. Boring. Silly.
Graceless.
Coincidence? I think not. Divine irony, probably.
I recall reading several stories in the past about saints defeating armies through prayer of the rosary alone. Peaceful triumph through contemplation and devotion. If prayer can can stop armies, it can certainly stop Ron Howard.
I am genuinely curious as to what is going through Ron Howard's mind right now. It must be excessively unpleasant.
He gave Angels and Demons more action than The Da Vinci Code. But that didn't solve the film's problems. He gave it more chases. He made the music more exciting. The scenery more exotic. The running around more frantic.
None of it worked. Angels and Demons is still a foolish, shoddy thing.
When all the usual movie tricks fail, it must be disquieting to understand why a production has gone wrong. There's no discenable physical reason.
And if I was faithless old Ron Howard, I would be absolutely pulling out my hair to understand where to go from here.
Dan Brown's new book, The Lost Symbol, is coming out soon. And Howard has signed the film deal. Maybe he should have waited until Angels and Demons came out, to know if he really understood what he was doing or not.
I propose a bet. Dan Brown's new novel The Lost Symbol appears in book stores this September. You can be sure I will be praying my rosary for it to fail. The strength of God against the stupidity of the world.
And I am willing to wager that the book will be just as boring, dull, uninspired and uninfluential as the Angels and Demons movie.
It will be an interesting test indeed.
P.S. I have noted that every single prayer I have ever made through the rosary has always been answered, in some way or form. It is one of the great forgetten powers of the Church. I suggest we use it.

Because of that remark, millions of Catholics all over the world organized family rosary crusade, intensified the legions of Maries, the Block Rosary, the Knights of the Immaculate, etc. And now, the Soviet Empire has collapsed and Communishm has failed but the Pope and the Catholic Church are as strong and as vibrant as ever.
The John Paul the Great, the Pope who destroyed Communism in Eastern Europe, was able to do it because of his strong faith in God and because of his extraordinary devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We can also defeat Dan Brown's tyranny of lies and deceits through the same faith and through the same Marian devotions.

In deeper understanding of the movie, Not to be fundamentalist in thought, I guess the movie compliments the Catholic faith. Angels and demons did not directly attack issues about our church but the evil that bears in human hearts. in the movie the Catholic church is not portrayed a tyrant but there is a certain person who plotted the killings. He did not portray the church but of himself, because i believe that what is of our Church is all good and not evil.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the distorting techniques of Dan Brown. In one novel [Da Vinci Code] he portrayed the Catholic Church as evil and anti-truth, anti-reason, anti-women organization. Then in Angels and Demons the same hero Langdon tries to save the Catholic Church. If the Catholic Church is so evil why is there a need to save it? Regardless of the seemingly 'good' treatment he gave to the Catholic Church in this book it is not yet enough to repair the evil that he has done to our Church.
