The College of the Holy Spirit in Mendiola, Manila

The Good Shepherd at the Garden near the Entrance Gate

This is the continuation of my Centro Escolar University and the San Beda Church visit posted earlier.

A Beautiful Image of an Angel in the Interior Garden

Being with Bro. Jayson Leones is a privilege on many counts. Not only because he is a young man deeply in love with the Lord and is active in promoting the faith among the youth but he is also a very prayerful and friendly guy so that when we visited Chapels and schools doors were being opened for us because he practically knows the staff of these institutions. In San Beda for instance, the Church was closed and a portion of the passageway leading to the Church was under renovation but because of Bro. Jayson's frequent prayer in the Church he got to know the good porter and we were given the chance to enter despite the inconvenience of the working men. Sorry po for disturbing you then... In leaving the Church we've met a Benedictine Friar and Bro. Jayson happily conversed with him in Spanish.

St. Arnold Janssen's Image
When our team: Bro. Jayson, Bro. TJ and Sis. April Hazel tranferred to the College of the Holy Spirit the same treatment was given to us. We were allowed to enter because Bro. Jayson once again is a good friend of the Guidance Counsellor or the Head of its Religion Department. The lady met us with joy in her office and was very accommodating.
The same image of St. Arnold and the waiting area
The Colleg of the Holy Spirit where my friend Bro. Dennis Maturan and Prof. Restie Ramos are teaching is very beautiful. It is a combination of old Italian architecture and modern design. There are areas that reminds me of a Spanish or Italian monasteries. Being in summer the place was very quiet then so we were able to truly appreciate the beauty and elegance of its place with its arches, porticoes and sacred statues.
The College Chapel

The Chapel is unique in this school because it is not located in front of the school or in the ground floor but at the center of the second floor. Worshippers have to climb a staircase leading to the House of Worship, very elegant and unique manifestation of love of God. It reminds us of Heaven... that we must strive not of the things of this world but of the greater things that are from above... life with God.

The Altar
If the San Beda Church is of Baroque or Renaissance in style, the Chapel of Holy Spirit College is modern. But it is distinctively Catholic still with the Blessed Sacrament, the large Cross and the Altar of the Eucharist at the center. And on top of the main Altar there is the big image of the Dove symbolizing the Holy Spirit with the eternal circle and the triangular shape representing the Eternity of God and His being One and Triune.

The Image of the Blessed Mother
In its own right this house of worship is beautiful, elegant and conducive for prayers, meditation and adoration of God.

Then going down to the other side of the staircase we walked futher into the school and inside we found another garder and classrooms with places to sit so perfect for reading, resting and preparing for class. The design of the garden and rooms there is so different from the main building in front. This one has no classical touch but it is still distinctively SVD because it reminds me of the SVD School of Theology in Tagaytay City, my alma mater in Theological Formation.

Another beautiful statue in the interior garden. This one is St. Joseph with the Child Jesus
