Pope Benedict XVI connects with People
Vatican City, May 26 (CNA).-On its first day online, the new website enabling young people from around the world to get to know Pope Benedict XVI, received almost half a million visits.According to webmaster Father Paolo Padrini of Vatican Radio, the website sponsored by the Pontifical Council for the Laity is intended "to create a climate of belonging, of participating in the Church, through ever greater closeness with the Holy Father."
The new site, which allows users to learn the teachings of Benedict XVI on Facebook, download tools for iPhones and have access to the Vatican on Youtube, sent out "almost ten thousand virtual postcards on its first day" and received almost "half a million visits."
Father Padrini noted that what "is on Facebook is not a profile, but rather a place to share, because the Pope obviously does not need a profile to introduce himself…Dialogue with him is dialogue based on our daily realities of school, work, and the parish. This is promoted by him and is later made concrete in the sharing of our friends on the internet."

Father Abe, I was worried this past few days po because, a lot of students here in our University (and some of our members as well in our religious organization) are watching this so called "Angels and Demons" movie. They are telling me na "kuya, maganda ang movie, panuorin mo, hindi sya anti-catholic" or others saying na "hindi sya offensive kuya sa Catholic Church, ndi katulad ng Da Vinci Code". i dont know Father how will I defend it properly that what they are watching is still offensive and contrary to the teachings of the church. Even my Father watched it because, he is not the type of person who wouldnt believe that easily if I will tell him na its not good, na you will commit a mortal sin, na you are selling Jesus again not 30 pieces of silver anymore but millions of dollars already.
I was also oriented by the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate (a reformed Franciscan conservative order founded by Fr. Stefano Manelli, FI) that in the examination of conscience (based from the ten commandments), there is a question " do you watch, or read offensive books or contrary to the teachings of the church or attacking the Catholic Church? because I believe Father, that if you do this one, you will commit mortal sin (as far as my understanding of the examiation of conscience is concerned).
Another thing is that, like in the Da Vinci Code, I've been telling many times to others especially students that dont watch that film because you will sell Jesus again for millions and you will commit mortal sin by just patronizing it. even Harry potter books and movies, I told them that you might be infested by these pero pinag tawanan lang po ako and napaka "KJ" (Kill Joy) ko daw po. sinasabi pa nila na it depends naman daw po sa intention ko kung iisipin ko daw na masama or mabuti.
I hope Father, you will shed on light on this. What is the teaching of the Church regarding these and where can we find in the bible? How will I proprly defend it to them that these are not good.
Whatever be your answers and explanations for my queries, i am asking your permission to print this so that the readers may know po.

I'm just an ordinary person but I'm a member of The Holy Roman Apostolic & Catholic Church. I am a Catholic & I was offended by your post about Our Holy Popes & Pope Benedict. You're not a Catholic & you dont know anything about our Pope nor Pope Benedict, so you dont have rights to say that He is an evil- 666, you just qoutting a text or verse etc. chop-chop in favor of whatever you believe. So I would like to say na Mind your own business, kasi i think yan naman kayo "some sort of Business" Dahil kami meron kaming pinagmulan , may Holy Tradition kaming sinusunood, ang aral namin pinag aralan pa ng mga Doctors of the Church na maski 'ikaw' nagagamit pa ang kanilang mga sinulat. Ipapaubaya na lang kita sa mga great Apologist namin dahil mas marami silang pang sagot sa yo! what i want from you is show us some respect especially for the Head of Our Church. ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost I want you to know that the use of 666 attacks against our Popes, especially Pope Benedict XVI will never succeed because our Popes especially the present one is living a life of holiness which is contrary to the Biblical description of the Anti-Christ.
The Pope is a Man of Faith. He proclaims the Lordship of Christ and is worshipping the one, true God. Also, the Pope is not a mass murderer of people; on the contrary he is a man of peace. He is anti-war, pro-life - against abortions, euthanasia, same sex marriage, contraceptions and sexual immoralities.
That is the reason why he is respected and loved by the civilized world contrary to the claim of few misguided members from the Protestant and Born Again sects, Seventh Day Adventist and Iglesia of Manalo cult.
Instead of attacking Pope Benedict the SDA and the INC must look on their fence because the names of their founders and leaders are the one calculated to be 666. You can check my presentation of 666 in this Blog for that.

Because of my busy schedule wherein I am in Manila for about a week I was not able to post about my critique of the Angels and Demons. Hope to be able to do that next week when I returned to Sorsogon.
Concerning your friends i they already watched it after your supplications then you have done your part. They will be the one responsible for it. But, now go to the next level. Borrow the book from them and read it. Then write all the things you find contrary to faith, add your research in the internet and you can pinpoint to them the areas which you found detrimental to the faith.
Just like the Lord who creates good effects out of the evil happening in the world please try to bring good out of Angels and Demons.
For the meantime you can revisit my post about the movie and read the comments. One of our readers posted a very good LIST OF THE MISTAKES ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH IN THE MOVIE.

It only shows that they are the followers of the Anti-Christ because they are accusing a good person with evil that he is not committing.

ReplyDeleteSorry for failing to see you while I was in Manila. Actually I didn't stay in Manila but I concentrated in Tagaytay City because I represented our Religious Community in the Diaconal Ordination of two Somascan Religious. Then I went to Molino Cavite to attend the Silver Anniversary of Consecrated Life of Sis. Emmy Matanguihan, a Somascan Sister. Then I went to NTC to arrange some documents for our TV station.
As a teacher of the faith it is not a sin for you to read the book because your intention is not to consider the material as a source of 'truth' but in order to explain its mistakes to others. Just like the Catholic Apologists who must read the opponents papers in order to defend the faith.
On my part, I have not read it yet but will read it soon but I will not buy the book. I will only borrow. He, he, he... para hindi yumaman si Dan Brown a little more because of me.
