HAPPY FIESTA TOO FR. PAOLO AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. MAY ST. PAUL, YOUR PATRON SAINT BE WITH YOU ALWAYS.
ReplyDeleteWE MISS YOU SO. GOD BLESS.
Why do you have to celebrate feast for your patron saints?Shouldn't we address thanksgiving to God? Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. ....Aren't Peter and Paul creatures and not the Creator?
ReplyDeleteMs. Resilyn Bago,
ReplyDeleteGod ordered that feast be celebrated by His people. And there are various feasts. Some are directly for the worship of God and some others are indirectly by recognizing some events or persons. I suggest that you study the Bible and not even your own conclusion which is not in accord with the Bible.
* There is Feast of the Lord [Lev 23:2]
* There is Feast of Harvests [Ex 23:16]
* There is Feast of Unleavened Bread [Mk 14:1]
Gen 21:8 Abraham did a feast for Isaac
Gen 19:3 Lot gave a feast for his guests who are angels.
Gen 26:30 Abimelech offered a Feast for Isaac.
So, what is wrong with having a feast for the Apostles Peter and Paul? Please do not consider evil the practice that is Biblical and pleasing to God.
Romans 1:25
Rom 1:25 does not prohibit Feasts and having a feast in honor of human beings especially Apostles.

ReplyDeleteWhy do we celebrate feasts of our saints? Because it was stated in the bible that saints or heroes of the faith be given HONOR and be RECEIVED WITH GREAT JOY:
Phil 2:29-30 (NIV)
29Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him,
30because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me.
According to St. Paul, people like Epaphroditus WHO NEARLY DIED FOR THE LORD BE RECEIVED WITH GREAT JOY AND HONOR. If that is so, then how much more to those WHO REALLY DIED FOR THE FAITH?
That is why we Catholics celebrate FEASTS in honor of our saints. By holding feasts in their honor, we are able to fulfill what was stated in texts. We received our heroes of the faith with GREAT JOY AND HONOR.
The problem in your logic, Resilyn, is that it is fallacious and therefore, incorrect. If we hold feasts in honor of our saints it doesn't mean that we no longer gave thanks to God. Actually, if you honor saints, you honor God because you appreciate God's handiwork. To praise the painting is virtually praising the painter. Saints doesn't become holy by their own effort alone you know. Part of the reason is due to God.
Where in the bible does it states that holding feast in honor of saints is already an act of idolatry?
Do you remember the prodigal son who, after squandering his inheritance decided to returned home and was met with gladness by his Father? Isn't the father hold a feast in honor of his Son who "died but live, who was lost and was found"? (cf. Lk 15:11-32) Is that idolatry?
