The Aemilianum Knights' Trip to Naga, Friendship Game with Ateneo de Naga Team

Last month our Varsity Team went to Ateneo de Naga for a friendship game with their counterpart in Ateneo de Naga University. The program became a reality because our Coach, Aldin Ayo, is a distant relative and good friend of Coach Noli Ayo the former coach of ADNU varsity.

The friendship game was designed to be a two way games. The first one will be held in ADNU while the second friendship game will be held in Aemilianum College. This is the first of the second part series. Since our superior was not available to be with our players to meet the ADNU, I was tasked to be with them.

I was not able to post about it earlier because it was affected by the death and funeral of Tita Cory. Now, after so many requests from students and due to the ongoing Basketball competitions in Sorsogon City in which the boys are winning games after games I remembered these photos.

In Naga, however, we lost the friendship game. The ADNU team is gifted with much taller players and excellent shooters playing with a home crowd inside their own school gym. Our players did poorly during the first quarter so that their rallies during the third and fourth quarters were not enough to reverse ADNU's score advantage.

It was unfortunate that I was not able to take shots during the game itself. It is because Coach Noli Ayo generously accompanied me during the games and instead of being free to roam around to take shots I was glued to my seat to talk and analyze the game with Coach Noli. Anyway, it was a blessing because Coach Noli is a very joyful person, a good talker and really knowledgeable in Basketball. I've learned a lot during our conversations.

After the game Ateneo's officials treated us to a meal in their University restaurant and we proceeded to visit the newly built SM Mall nearby. Cris was very happy because he got the chance to buy a pair of shoes that he needed. It is the same shoes shown in one of the pictures in this post, the one with Coach Aldin.

Despite the loss the boys were very happy and eager to redeem themselves when the friendship game will be held in our home court. We will report about it soon.
