Since our newspapers are arriving here in Sorsogon City very late in the morning, I only learned early this afternoon that the Mayor of San Jose del Monte City, my hometown and place of birth, died of sudden heart attack.
I share the shock and the sadness of our people in the sudden loss of our leader who led our municipality to cityhood. It is unfortunate that this happened because in my last conversation with him he was very excited to see the start of construction of the Metro Rail Transit [MRT] station in our City to connect our people faster to the major cities of Metro Manila and ultimately to Clark and Subic.
The late mayor was personall present during my Ordination to the Priesthood last December 28, 2009 in Sto. Rosario, Parish. In that same parish he served as a Lay Minister, a Member of the Knight of Columbus and was active in Cursillo apostolate. He is a good friend of our family because of it since my father was a fellow Lay Minister, Knight of Columbus and also as active in Cursillo. I still remember when as a boy I was brougt by my father to his medical clinic, since he is a Physician, he refused to charge us for medical fee. And right after my Sacerdotal Ordination, March 2001 we were together on the same stage in BBA Elementary School. I was invited as the guest speaker of my alma mater elementary school while he was there as a special guest. He touched my hand gently but energetically and said, 'Your father and I are very close friends.' I know it since childhood. After that encounter he was elected the Congressman of our City and re-elected Mayor.
Our condolences to Dra. Bel Roquero and the entire Roquero Family.
We pray to the Almighty God to be merciful to his soul and grant him eternal life.

ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your very touching message of condolence for our late Mayor Roquero. Not only it is touching, it is also very informative. It is only now that I've learned that Mayor Ed's father and uncles are also Mayors in their native Pigcawayan, Cotabato. Our Mayor really came from family of public servants.
May the Lord grant eternal life to Mayor Ed and bless the people of San Jose del Monte City and Pigcawayan, Cotabato.
God bless us all.
In behalf of my family and my former City Veterinary Office family, our deep condolences to the family of my former boss, the late city mayor EDUARDO V. ROQUERO, M.D. Thank you very much for your trust and confidence you showed to me as one of your employees under your terms!
ReplyDeleteMay you Rest in Peace!
That's true, my cousin Mayor nong Eddie Roquero, never forgotten his hometown Capayuran, Pigcawayan (north cotabato. Every patronal fiesta of our town he was always there supporting events, sponsoring programs, always making sure to care for Pigcawayan in general and in Capayuran townsfolk in particular. Hindi talaga nya nakalimutan kung saan siya nanggaling, he was our clan's flag and torch bearer, always seeing to it that there will always be a Roquero that will serve the masses.
ReplyDeleteHe was the igniting force why our uncle Herminio Roquero, the present mayor of Pigcawayan also served the public and so as my late father, Juan "Johnny" Roquero who once also served Pigcawayan as councilor. Now that he's gone, kami nga taga pigcawayan cannot, and will never forget nong Ed and his values of how to really care. To you nong Ed, though you don't know it, our son Thyrzo John Roquero-Apigo has made you as his idol, someday, somehow he will follow your footsteps....a next generation of Roquero blood will soon rise and serve Pigcawayan.
Condolences to Nang Bel, Auntie Rita, Nang Anit and to the rest of the family.
Long live the people of San Jose del Monte City and Pigcawayan, North Cotabato.
God bless us all,
from your cousin,

Dear Mrs. Maita Roquero-Apigo and Family,
ReplyDeleteWow, it is a great honor to meet the relatives of our beloved late Mayor Ed from his hometown. What a blessing.
My relatives informed me that the remains of our late Mayor is now interned in the newly established Sagrada Familia Parish near his home in Sapang Palay, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. I was told that many people are coming to pay their respect to our Mayor and Congressman who led our municipality to become the first ever City in the Province of Bulacan.
God bless the soul of Mayor Ed and May the Lord bless his family and relatives in Bulacan and in Cotabato as well as Davao.
Our deepest sympathies to the family of our beloved late Mayor Eduardo Roquero.

ReplyDeleteDear Dra. Bel Roquero & family:
At a time like this, we are at a loss for words to express our condolence to someone who has lost a loved one. How to say it to bring comfort? How to say that we care? How to say that we understand?
This is life experience you can never get used to. Losing someone you love is the most excruciating pain we can go through. You walk through life with an open palm, helping those in need and offering your help where needed. You are an amazing person and we know God's light will shine on you soon so you can enjoy the sunlight once again. Our beloved mayor, Eduardo V. Roquero will be forever missed.
Our deepest sympathy,

Sincere Condolences & deepes sympathy to the Roqueros (Dra. Bet Roquero , Bianca & the whole family). It was shocking for us to know the passing of Dr. Ed Roquero. My husband & I had a chance to meet him & his family on 2007 Father's Day in Pundakit , San Antonio , Zambales when he & his whole family stayed as Wild Rose Beach Inn. May the Perpetual Light shine upon him always. We are sure his passing is a big lost for a lot of people he had served as a Medical doctor & a long time hard working & very dedicated public servant as a Mayor of San Jose, Del Monte, Bulacan & beyond.

Ok lang po sakin. Kaya lang my capacity to post pictures is very tight na. I already consumed 97% of my free space for photos. That is why I stopped posting a lot of photos of our activities anymore.
ReplyDeleteMayor Eduardo V. Roquero was a good mayor for the city of San Jose del Monte. The light of GOD will shine over him, and his memory. I met Mr.Roquero in June when my wife and I was planning our wedding there in San Jose del Monte. A big man has left us this year.
