My Father Mr. Salvador Arganiosa, my elder sister Marylin and my niece Mary Louise with her classmate in prep school and that classmate's grandmother in front of the house of Pres. Cory Aquino in Times Street. The day before the burial of President Cory Aquino my father and sister wanted to go to Manila Cathedral to visit the remain of the late President. But it will take them at least 4 or 5 hours of waiting and a two kilometer long line to reach the coffin of Tita Cory inside the Cathedral. It will be very difficult for my father who had suffered minor strokes already and my niece Mary Louise who is very young. So, my sister decided to proceed to the house of the former president instead.
The place is nearer to our place and the number of people going was not as huge as the one in Manila Cathedral or in La Salle, Greenhills. So they went. They were dressed in simple clothes to be ready for rains or for a walk if necessary. And they were delighted to see not so many people there because the attention of the nation was the Necrological Service in the Cathedral that afternoon.
The small token of love with a small Rosary my sister put in front of the house to express the Arganiosa Family's love, affection and gratitude to the motherly service given by the late President to the nation.
The next hope is to visit the Tomb of President Cory who was buried beside Sen. Ninoy Aquino in Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque. It will be great to offer candles and flowers there and of course to pray to God in front of the remains of a very holy person like Cory Aquino.
The yellow flowers that brightens the struggle for Democracy in our Land during the darkest years of Martial Law once again shines in our Land. It is now the symbol for preservation of that Democracy and a potent threat to those who will stifle it.
The Marker put by National Historical Commission stating the relevance of this house in history. This is the house where the late Senator and martyr for the struggle against the Marcos Dictatorship lived before he was imprisoned and was exiled in the United States. Now, it attained greater relevance: It is the residence of the First Woman President of the Republic and another National Hero.
