TITA CORY 'DEFINITELY A SAINT' SAYS TWO ARCHBISHOPS

Pres. Cory Aquino during a Press Conference

Another bishop on Tuesday pushed for the late President Corazon "Cory" Aquino's sainthood, believing that her canonization would encourage Filipinos to do good. "Being a saint is for everybody. If she will be saint, more people will be encouraged to do good," Maasim Archbishop Precioso Cantillas said. Cantillas said the late president is very much qualified to be declared a saint for living "a saintly life." Various groups and even several bishops have supported proposals to declare Mrs. Aquino a saint. The proposals came as millions of Filipinos mourn the death of the former president, who died of complications from colon cancer last August 1. In a most recent news item posted on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines' website, Archbishop Ramon Arguelles said Mrs. Aquino is "definitely a saint." Arguelles, however, clarified that to become a saint, the Vatican must verify two miracles attributed to Mrs. Arroyo. He said declaring someone a saint may take centuries. “It’s not bad (Aquino as a saint). One who declares someone to be a saint is God and then the church will only affirm. Definitely she’s a saint,” Arguelles said. The bishop said if ever Vatican rejects proposals to declare Mrs. Aquino a saint, she would always be a "model," not only by Filipinos, but other people around the world. “That would be enough. In God’s own time, if God wants her to be a symbol for many people, then we can say that she’s really a saint on her political life... Saint of People Power,” he said. [ABS-CBN News Aug. 11, 2009]

  7. will always be remembering her and she is history, she is treasure. Im from cebu, and until this very moment, this very time, i don't know what to say, how people adore Cory Aquino. Even in malls many people still buy memorabilla of Cory. I saw this young man bought a bench shirt with a face of ninoy and cory. I ask the him why among those tshirts which is so nice, you chose the yellow one with the face of ninoy and cory. He just answered me that "yellow is color of peace, love and symphaty how people grieved for the lost of the real democracy icon and a true gold treasure of the nation". I simply smiled at him and that made me think how precious they are to the nation, the impact to the people.

Until now, almost everywhere, you will find yellow billboards by bench promoting and telling the world to remember our beloved hero ninoy and cory.

Hope, as time goesby, the future children of the philippines will remember how Aquino make history and how they put importance by delivering peace, love and loyalty to the country.

I have read an article about jaeyoun kim on how he describe the poverty in the philippines and what is really the cause why our nation is still struggling to be well-off.

  9. The sanctity of a person for which he or she will be canonized is not dependent on our opinions but on the life that they lived and the recogntion of the Church of such..

The sanctity of Mrs. Aquino is well attested by people who had witnessed her life. Being a saint does not mean being 'perfect' politically, administratively or socially. No, it depends on her living the Gospel values in a heroic degree. I think she did.
