According to Reggie Velasco, Lakas-Kampi CMD deputy secretary general, they can no longer deny the popularity of Aquino which has been proven by a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
The SWS survey showed Aquino as the strongest with a rating of 50% among the possible presidential contenders including former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada, senators Manuel “Manny” Villar and Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
That's why the administration party would no longer waste more time in choosing its own standard-bearer. Lakas-Kampi CMD is set to announce its candidate for president on Wednesday.
Velasco, who spoke at the Balitaan sa Tinapayan forum Sunday, added that the machinery of the Arroyo administration has to start working in order to catch up with Aquino's growing popularity.
“Noynoy is the flavor of the season! Lahat ng atensyon nasa kanya na. Paborito siya ng publiko... Pero may makinarya ba siya? Eh pera?” said Velasco in an interview after the forum.
Velasco however was unfazed even as the possible standard bearers of the administration party were not faring well in surveys including the recent results.
“Once we declare our official candidate, makikita ninyo ang survey na iyan magbabago,” said Velasco.
Another senior administration official meanwhile said the rise of Aquino in the recent poll should bother the opposition first rather than the administration.
“It's something that should make the rest of the opposition nervous before it bothers the administration. After all, it's not the administration candidates that were on top of the surveys before Noynoy suddenly emerged as presidential candidate,” said Secretary Gabriel Claudio, presidential political adviser who is also a senior leader of the Lakas Kampi CMD party, in a text message.
Claudio echoed Velasco’s statement that the administration standard bearer would have enough time to catch up.
“The administration's bet has yet to be announced and will have a fresh start with enough time to catch up,” said Claudio.
Supporters of Aquino meantime were overjoyed with the survey results. They said this only proves that Aquino is the change that the Filipinos are aspiring for.

NOynoy was one of those who proposed the Reproductive Pill. Are we not against any candidate who promotes artificial birth control methods?

Is it true that he is supportive and is even one of the co-authors of the RH Bill?
ReplyDeleteI think it's true. It's a pity. THAT IS UNFORTUNATE. However, I believe that Noynoy is a true and loyal son of the Church. At the end he will be obedient to the Moral Teaching of the Church.
ReplyDeleteThe Aquinos are loyal to the Church and are extremely religious. They are Catolico Cerado. Their advisers are composed of Bishops, Jesuit theologians, La Salle Brothers and famous nuns whose affinity with them is strong. Then, let Fr. Catalino Arevalo, SJ the best Filipino theologian explain it to Noy or the CBCP should task Arch. Soc Villegas to explain it to him in a personal dialogue and Noy will rise to the dignity of Cory.
Teodoro, Escudero, Legarda, Gordon are for RH Bill also. But I doubt if they will listen to the Church. His mother is considred as the Church's most loyal daughter during her lifetime and was saintly.
Let us pray for him to be enlightened with this one.
A proponent is one; a supporter is another... I will not take my chances. How can you say Noynoy is Catolico cerado, Father? He is either ignorant of the Church's position on artificial contraception (which makes him a BAD Catholic) or he knows about the same but chose to dissent.
ReplyDeleteWell, you are free to choose the candidate of the Lakas Party if you want. That guy is very categorical in his stand on RH Bill. Or you can vote for Erap for instance or for Villar who like GMA refuses to answer charges connected to corruption involving millions.
ReplyDeleteLook at each of the candidates and show me who among them is a real Catholic for you.
With Noy's stand on RH Bill, it is the duty of us priests and nuns, especially those who are close to the Aquino Family to convince him of the truth of Catholic position.
We cannot deny the fact that many of those who graduated from Catholic Schools and whose parents are deeply religious people are coming out not so solid in doctrines. It is because the focus of Catholic Education now is no longer doctrine. That is why ignorance of real Catholic doctrines is evident among many young Catholics. That is why it is our duty to inform them and guide them.
With the present crop of candidates I still prefer Noy over others. Almost all candidates are supportive of RH Bill and I believe that the Church has more persuading power or influence on Noynoy rather than the rest. Why don't you try it on the Lakas bet? Once you convince him the RH Bill will die immediately because the has in his hands almost all of the congressmen and governors.
