Our much beloved Statue of St. Jerome Emiliani with an orphan boy in front of the main building of Somascan College Seminary in Lubao, Pampanga.
During the first week of April 2010 I visited Lubao, Pampanga again in order to bring an aspirant in the Seminary to be introduced to our Seminary Superior and Vocation Director.
There were very few seminarians present then because the great majority were in vacation. I've met Fr. John Carino, Fr. Melchor, Bro. Noel and Bro. Ruben but they were very busy then. Fr. Melchor preparing to go to follow up the other applicants from different places, Bro. Ruben will go swimming with the seminarians present. So, I spent much time chatting with Bro. Noel.
Then I passed around the seminary to check things and places dear to my heart to remind me of my seminary days. It was very hot, the heat of summer made most of the grass dry and almost every plant was flowerless. Just look at the photo of the portion of our rice field and the ground around Casa Miani.
The grand rice field however in the vast fields connecting Pampanga and Bulacan were still beautifully green with minimal touches of the dry spell because of the life giving water coming from the irrigations which in turn derive its water supply from the giant Angat Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan near my home town.
Until now the dry-spell is still on-going. We pray to the Lord of harvest to grant rain to soften our fields and to provide harvests from our plants so that His people will be assured of good supply of food for the benefit of all.
