Ang Kapatiran files class suit vs DepEd over sex ed in schools

MANILA, Philippines—Members of the Ang Kapatiran Party filed a class suit against Department of Education officials to stop them from teaching sex education in schools.

In a petition for temporary restraining order filed Monday with the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, defeated AKP senatorial candidate lawyer Jo Imbong asked the court to stop the mandatory teaching of sex education, saying it is a violation of parents' rights to nurture their children's moral character.

Named as respondents in the 28-page petition were Education Secretary Mona Valisno and Undersecretary Ramon Bacani.
