Dear Anonymous,
Ang 7 Churches of Revelation refers to the Seven particular Christian Communities written to by St. John the Apostle in the Book of Apocalypse.
1.Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7) - the church that had forsaken its first love (2:4).
2.Smyrna (Revelation 2:8-11) - the church that would suffer persecution (2:10).
3.Pergamum (Revelation 2:12-17) - the church that needed to repent (2:16).
4.Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29) - the church that had a false prophetess (2:20).
5.Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6) - the church that had fallen asleep (3:2).
6.Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13) - the church that had endured patiently (3:10).
7.Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22) - the church with the lukewarm faith (3:16).
"Many commentators see these churches as representative of churches in every age. Their strengths and weaknesses are typical, and we are to gain insight into our own congregations by studying them. Others see the churches as representative of the ages of church history, with the first, Ephesus, representing the apostolic church and the last, Laodicea, representing the church of our own day. Whatever one’s view, there are many insights we can gain as we learn how Jesus Himself evaluates His people—and there are many warnings we can heed."
[Richards, Larry ; Richards, Lawrence O.: The Teacher's Commentary. Wheaton, Ill. : Victor Books, 1987, S. 1071]
1. The Lord says "I know your works"
2. Each contains a promise from Christ, “To him that overcometh.”
3. Each ends with, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”

ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteAs a leader of the people we priests are not just looking at the weaknesses of each group but also of its goodness and the positive contributions that it gives to the Church.
The CFC and the YFC are Catholic organizations that are doing a lot of good things in the Church. Their practice of Speaking in Tongue is done with good intention.
Of course, we are teaching them. We tell them that these things are not genuinely Catholic but Protestant made. Unfortunately there are some priests who simply just allow them doing so and are not correcting. These are the liberally formed pastors of the Church.
The process of correction is already underway. It was started by Pope John Paul the Great and all the more intensified during the pontificate of Benedict XVI. But it will take years to fully correct the many liturgical abuses in the Church today. Because we have to do it not by force but by education, catechesis and liturgical reform.
thanks po sa paliwanag ninyo, have a nice day!
