MORE ON SPEAKING IN TONGUES

The Holy Spirit 'Overshadowing' the Blessed Virgin during the Annunciation

[Speaking in tongues should not be taken lightly. We open our soul to a spirit whom we don't know where it comes from.]

VERY TRUE, BRO. TITO.

JESUS IS PERFECTLY FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT YET HE NEVER SPOKE IN TONGUEs:

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed," [Luke 4:18]

SEE, THE EFFECTS OF THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN JESUS IS NOT SPEAKING IN TONGUES BUT RATHER INCREASED SENSE OF MISSION. THEN AFTER SAYING THAT JESUS PREACHED IN NORMAL LANGUAGE INSIDE THE SYNAGOGUE. NO GIBBERISH SOUNDS.

HAVEN'T WE NOTICE THAT MAMA MARY WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT... SHE WAS OVERSHADOWED BY THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT [cf. Luke 1:35]YET SHE DIDN'T SPEAK IN TONGUES RATHER SHE HELPED ELIZABETH [cf. Luke 1:39] AND SUNG THE MAGNIFICAT [cf. Luke 1:46ff.].

WHEN ST. ELIZABETH WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT SHE PRONOUNCED THE WORDS "BLESSED ARE YOU AMONG WOMEN AND BLESSED IS THE FRUIT OF YOUR WOMB" [cf. Luke 1:41]. AGAIN, NOTHING GIBBERISH.

THE BIBLE IS CLEAR ON THE GIFTS OR FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT:

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Gal 5:23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

LOOK, NOT OF THEM IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES WITH A GIBBERISH SOUNDS.

Gal 5:24 And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.

THE PRESENCE OF THE SPIRIT IS MANIFESTED IN THE FACT THAT OUR PASSIONS AND LUST HAVE BEEN CONTROLLED BECAUSE THEY ARE ALREADY CRUCIFIED IN THE FLESH.

Gal 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk.

Gal 5:26 Let us not be vainglorious, provoking one another, envying one another.

THE PRESENCE OF THE SPIRIT IS MANIFESTED BY LIFE OF ACTIVE FAITH AND GENUINE FRATERNAL LOVE.

  2. Fr. Abe,nabasa ko po itong text of the Church's sentence against Galileo:

"Whereas you, Galileo, son of the late Vincenzio Galilei, of Florence, aged seventy years, were denounced in 1615, to this Holy Office, for holding as true a false doctrine taught by many, namely, that the sun is immovable in the center of the world, and that the earth moves, and also with a diurnal motion; also, for having pupils whom you instructed in the same opinions; [...] also, for answering the objections which were continually produced from the Holy Scriptures, by glozing the said Scriptures according to your own meaning; and whereas thereupon was produced the copy of a writing, in form of a letter professedly written by you to a person formerly your pupil, in which, following the hypothesis of Copernicus, you include several propositions contrary to the true sense and authority of the Holy Scriptures; therefore (this Holy Tribunal being desirous of providing against the disorder and mischief which were thence proceeding and increasing to the detriment of the Holy Faith) by the desire of his Holiness and the Most Emminent Lords, Cardinals of this supreme and universal Inquisition, the two propositions of the stability of the sun, and the motion of the earth, were qualified by the Theological Qualifiers as follows:

    1. The proposition that the sun is in the center of the world and immovable from its place is absurd, philosophically false, and formally heretical; because it is expressly contrary to Holy Scriptures.

    2. The proposition that the earth is not the center of the world, nor immovable, but that it moves, and also with a diurnal action, is also absurd, philosophically false, and, theologically considered, at least erroneous in faith.

Therefore . . . , invoking the most holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ and of His Most Glorious Mother Mary, We pronounce this Our final sentence: We pronounce, judge, and declare, that you, the said Galileo . . . have rendered yourself vehemently suspected by this Holy Office of heresy, that is, of having believed and held the doctrine (which is false and contrary to the Holy and Divine Scriptures) that the sun is the center of the world, and that it does not move from east to west, and that the earth does move, and is not the center of the world; also, that an opinion can be held and supported as probable, after it has been declared and finally decreed contrary to the Holy Scripture, and, consequently, that you have incurred all the censures and penalties enjoined and promulgated in the sacred canons and other general and particular constituents against delinquents of this description. From which it is Our pleasure that you be absolved, provided that with a sincere heart and unfeigned faith, in Our presence, you abjure, curse, and detest, the said error and heresies, and every other error and heresy contrary to the Catholic and Apostolic Church of Rome."

May dalawanh katanungan lang po ako:

The group is good in general. Meron lang mali sa ilang mga IMBENTONG PRACTICES NA GALING SA MGA PROTESTANTE.

  5. Welcome dear Anonymous.

May I add. I love and respect the YFC and the CFC.

Mababait sila. Active sa Church. Laging faithful sa Holy Mass attendance. They attract couples to be faithful to God and help them in their marital problems. Then the youth for Christ invites the youth to be faithful to Jesus and active in the parish life.

Marami silang mabuting ginagawa. The groups are very good in general. Subalit, we remind them to correct certain practices na hindi tugma sa Catholic Spirituality and Practices like that Speaking in Tongues.

    THE GIFT OF TONGUES

    Speaker’s Outline

    I. Introduction.

    A. We all have been prayed with for baptism in the Spirit. Having asked and received, the Holy Spirit is at work in us in a new way.

    1. Part of the Spirit's work is implanting a desire in our hearts to have more and more of God, to continue to experience Him more intimately.
    2. One powerful experience some lack is speaking in tongues.

    B. In the Bible, we first encounter speaking in tongues in the book of Acts, on the day of Pentecost.

    1. It was something totally new, appearing only at this time.

 We have encountered the other spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:8 10) in the Old Testament and the gospels (Note: an example of interpretation is Daniel figuring out the handwriting on the wall). But the gift of tongues is new.

    2. The gift of tongues is also unique. It is a prominent feature in the church established at Pentecost.

    C. Speaking in tongues is for all of us. "Now I should like all of you to speak in tongues" (1 Corinthians 14:5).

II. What is the gift of tongues?

    A. A definition: Speaking in tongues is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit where one speaks an unintelligible utter¬ance or a language which he does not know, and which he does not understand.

    1. It is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit.

    a. Acts 2:4, 10:45 46, 19:6.
    b. It is directly connected with the outpouring of the Spirit on people.

    2. It could very well be an actual language.

    a. There are many different languages in the world (1 Corinthians 14:10). In fact, there are over 6,000 languages and dialects. Some of them sound like gibberish. Some are merely grunts.
    b. Actual sentences can sound like baby talk. A Filipino example: A conversation between an elevator operator man and a passenger. "Bababa ba?" (Is this going down?). "Bababa." (Yes, it is going down).

    B. Speaking in tongues is speaking to God. 1 Corinthians 14:2.

    1. It is speaking to God beyond the limits of human intel¬ligible language. It is expressing the inexpressible.
    2. Being addressed to God, there is no need for people to understand what is being said. God understands.

III. Why is the gift of tongues important?

    A. The gift of tongues is important because it is a gift of the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:4,10.

    1. Every gift from God is good and desirable.
    2. Tongues was a common experience in the apostolic Church.

    B. The gift of tongues is important as a gift of prayer.

    1. Prayer is one of the most basic components of the life of a Christian. We all want to experience prayer in a more powerful way.
    2. Tongues connects us directly to God. 1 Corinthians 14:2.
    3. Tongues allows us to pray with our spirit and not merely with our mind. 1 Corinthians 14:14.

    C. Tongues is important because it helps build up the body of Christ.

    1. It is an important ministry in the Church, a ministry designated by God Himself. 1 Corinthians 12:28.
    2. Ministries in the Church are designed to build up the body. Ephesians 4:11 12.

IV. What is the value of tongues for us personally?

    A. Tongues gives us a new dimension in prayer. It can revolu¬tionize our prayer life.

    ReplyDelete
  10. par t 2 po

    1. It gives us a greater awareness of God's presence. 1 Corinthians 14:2,14.

 Our spirit connects with God's spirit.

    2. We pray more profoundly, even without realizing it.

 1 Corinthians 14:2 "he utters mysteries in spirit".

    3. When we are no longer able to express ourselves as we encounter the overwhelming glory and majesty of God, the Spirit itself helps us in our prayer. Romans 8:26.
    4. We are able to intercede for what we need to live ac¬cording to God's will, even when we may not know what this is. Romans 8:27.

    B. Tongues builds us up, edifies us. 1 Corinthians 14:4a.

    C. Tongues has a transforming effect on one's spiritual life.

    1. Tongues is often the gateway to the charismatic dimen¬sion. It gives us a spiritual breakthrough. We enter into a new spiritual realm.
    2. Many experience a deeper faith and a deeper working of God in one's life.

    V. Some pastoral notes.

    A. Tongues is important, but we need to see it in its proper place.

    1. The baptism in the Holy Spirit, with its manifestation of tongues, is not needed for salvation. Salvation comes through the cross of Christ.
    2. Many Christians experience the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives without experiencing the gift of tongues.

 Consider the apostles and disciples sent on mission by Jesus and performing signs and wonders, all prior to Pentecost and their receiving the gift of tongues.

    B. Tongues is important, but it should not be over-emphasized.

    1. It is only one aspect of our life of faith. It is not the focal point of our faith.

 There are more important things. 1 Corinthians 14:18 19.

    2. Love is the most important. 1 Corinthians 13:1.

 Unlike tongues, love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:8.

    C. Given the above, still tongues is important and desirable, since it results in further blessings and more power for the Christian life.

VI. How do we receive the gift of tongues?

    A. If we are to receive the gift of tongues, we should first of all desire it.

    1. God will never force anything on us, even if He knows it is for our good.
    2. Paul advises us: "Pursue love, but strive eagerly for the spiritual gifts" (1 Corinthians 14:1).

    B. Desiring it, we should then ask for it in faith.

    1. Matthew 7:7 11. This is God's promise. If we ask, then God will give. It involves our act, and God's response.
    2. We should be like little children with childlike faith.

    C. Then we yield to and cooperate with God's Spirit.

    1. We open our mouth and speak out.

    a. We lay aside any known language, and just speak out.
    b. It may be "la, la, la" or "ba, ba, ba" or "alleluia" or any other syllable or sound. God will shape these sounds into a language of prayer and praise.

    2. We focus on Christ and not on the words.

 "My Spirit is at prayer but my mind is unproductive" (1 Corinthians 14:14).

VII. Obstacles to receiving the gift of tongues.

    A. Fear

    1. Fear of looking foolish (1 Corinthians 14:23), of being taken over and losing control, of the unknown.
    2. Antidote: Trust in God. God will not do anything to us that will not be beneficial for us.

    B. Doubt.

    1. Doubt regarding the desirability and usefulness of the gift.
    2. Antidote: In faith, accept that any gift from God is good and desirable.

    C. Feeling of unworthiness.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Being a sinner, or just being a baby in Christ, we may think that the gift is reserved for those more worthy.
    2. Antidote: Know that the gift is not based on one's worth or on good works. Rather, it is a free gift of God for every Christian who desires and asks for it.

    D. Pride

    1. Thinking that we do not need this gift, that we are already doing well in our Christian life without it.
    2. Antidote: Humble yourself, realizing how far you still are from the righteousness and holiness of God, and how utterly dependent you are on His grace and His gifts.

    E. Wrong expectations or attitudes.

    1. An attitude of waiting on God for something to happen without doing our part. One may even just sit there with mouth closed and arms crossed, saying that if God wants to give the gift, then He will.

 Reality: God does not force us. We need to cooperate. Open your mouth and speak out.

    2. Expecting to have a very dramatic and emotional experi¬ence (e.g., trembling, distorting of mouth, etc.).

 Reality: While you may have an emotional experience, it is not necessarily to be expected. There may be no extraordinary experiences or emotions at all.

    3. Trying to psych oneself up.

 Proper attitude: Just relax. This way the gift will flow more easily.

    4. Unwillingness to experience the unknown, or something totally new, or something illogical.

 Proper attitude: Know that while there are things we believe in because we understand, in our life of faith there are things we have to believe in even before we can understand.

    VIII. Conclusion

    A. God loves us so much that He wants to pour upon us His bountiful grace and gifts.

    B. One important gift is the gift of speaking in tongues. This gift is important for personal edification, for build¬ing up our community in CFC-SFC, and for opening us up for greater empowerment for our mission.

    C. God wants to give you the gift of tongues. Desire it as well and accept His gift.

  15. Dear Bro. Francis,

Hindi mo kailangang umalis sa grupo. As I told you the group itself is a good group. You can just explain to them that the so-called GIFT OF TONGUES is not your gift and therefore you decided not to practice it. Little by little you can also explain to your friends in the group to focus more on Catholic manners of worship rather than imitating the Protestants.

Bakit nakalusot sa mga advisers? Kasi mababait ang mga advisers. They didn't scrutinize that much these activities. They accept Yoga of Hinduism and Buddhism, they accept the animal offerings of the Indegenous Tribes, they accept spiritism dances as liturgical dance and they accept Protestant practices such as Baptism of the Spirit and Speaking on Tongues which are not part of Apostolic Heritage.

  16. ABOUT GALILEO:

Brother, the original site where you got your quote is this:

    http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/galileo/condemnation.html

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_affair

Halimbawa: "After examining these stones, I hereby declare than man has no soul."

Kasi we have also a lot of scientists at kadalasan hawak ng Church ang best of the best Educational and Scientific centers.

  20. About the Manual for Speaking in Tongues.

It shows that the YFC, CFC and others using this Manual are sincere in their intentions. However the use of Speaking in Tongue is not supported by those Biblical Passages because their mistake is on the very nature of Speaking in Tongues.

They operate under the belief that it is a Gift of God. Well, the gift of God is not that practice of releasing gibberish sound but THE GIFT OF PROCLAIMING THE FAITH CLEARLY AND COURAGEOUSLY AND TO LIVE IT ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF THE FATHER.

Get the names of the Patriarchs, Prophets, Judges, Psalmists, Wise Men, Mary and Joseph, Apostles, Evangelists none of them were said to be Gifted with Actions showing release of Gibberish Sounds. The gift of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible is different from what the Protestants are doing. Rather it was the gift to evangelize and to lead people to God and to be able to discern the will of God for us.

IN THE SAME MANNER, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AS THEY IMITATED FROM THE PROTESTANTS. THERE IS ONLY ONE BAPTISM, AND THAT IS THE BAPTISM BY WATER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT WHICH WE ALREADY RECEIVED.

  21. FR. Arganiosa,

Ang kapayapaan po ni Kristo ay sumainyo!

Fr. At originally po diba ang praying or speaking in tongues ay ating practice sa early church at hindi po ito nag-cease dahil di naman po tayo "cessationists" Sa totoo po niyan Fr. ang baptism in the Holy Spirit po ay ayon kay Bishop Soc Villegas in not a sacrament but a spiritual exercise wherein a person is being renewed or poured by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Kaya po Fr. kami po ng aking mga kagroup ay buong sikap ng nagpapasakop sa aming kura paroko upang di maligaw. di po ba lahat naman ng samahan sa loob ng simbahan ay may posibilidad na makagawa ng di mabuti out of pride just among the traditionalists like the SSPX and some charismatic groups. Pero Fr. nais ko lamang po ibahagi ang mga nabasa ko over the years na napapatunay na ang speaking or praying in tongues o baptism in the holy spirit or the renewal movement in general ay recognized ng iglesya katolika at hindi po (ayon sa mga obispo at papa)originally protestant. I believe na ang mga mga ilang gawaing protestante like tongues praying ay originally practiced by the early christians who are Catholics like us.

"Grace is first and foremost the gift of the Spirit who justifies and sanctifies us. But grace also includes the gifts that the Spirit grants us to associate us with his work, to enable us to collaborate in the salvation of others and in the growth of the Body of Christ, the Church. There are sacramental graces, gifts proper to the different sacraments. There are furthermore special graces, also called charisms after the Greek term used by St. Paul and meaning "favor," "gratuitous gift," "benefit" [citing Vatican II's Lumen Gentium, 12]. Whatever their character - sometimes it is extraordinary, such as the gift of miracles or of tongues - charisms are oriented toward sanctifying grace and are intended for the common good of the Church. They are at the service of charity which builds up the Church [citing 1 Cor. 12; emphasis added]."

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  24. I also explained above that in the Bible there is such a term as SPEAKING ON TONGUES. Yes, there is.

  26. Thank you sa iyong mga explanations and sharings. We appreciate it very much. We only reject the abuses and those from the heretics.

St. Paul speaks in tongues (1 Cor 14). How can this be wrong?

There's a book written by Rev. Robert DeGrandis, SSJ entitled "the Gift of Tongues". Here he mentioned that there are two types of tongues. One is "praying in tongues" (gibbirish) and the other is "speaking in tongues". Both are acceptable to Catholic teachings. Praying in tongues edifies one's spirit while speaking in tongues edifies the community. Again, this priest encourages us to pray in tongues. What's your thought on this?

  29. I respect the opinion of Fr. DeGrandis. I need to read the book first before can comment on that. However, it is a historical fact that these so called Speaking on Tongues and Praying on Tongues is a modern phenomenon connected with the rise of Pentecostalism denominations from the Protestant groups.

If that is essential in the life of the Church how come our Popes and Martyrs, Virgins and Doctors and Mystics are known reported as doing that? Even Mama Mary and the Apostles were not reported doing that. How come St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine and the great Doctors of Spirituality never expounded on that?

IT IS A MODERN DAY PHENOMENON. A NEW INVENTION WITH THE NAME BORROWED FROM THE SCRIPTURES BUT THE ACTS ARE REALLY NEWLY INVENTED.

  30. [St. Paul speaks in tongues (1 Cor 14). How can this be wrong?]

NOT BECAUSE THE WORD 'SPEAKING IN TONGUE' APPEARED IN THE BIBLE IT MEANS 'SPEAKING IN GIBBERISH MANNER' LIKE THE PENTECOSTAL AND THE CHARISMATICS ARE DOING. IT IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES NOT SPEAKING IN GIBBERISH. THERE LIES THE DIFFERENCE.

BESIDES, EVEN PROTESTANTS RECOGNIZE THAT 1 COR. 14:1 REFERS TO 'SPEAKING DIFFERENT LANGUAGE'. IN THE FOOTNOTE OF NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION IT STATES: "1 Corinthians 14:2 Or another language; also in verses 4, 13, 14, 19, 26 and 27". IT IS NOT GURGLING THE TONGUE BUT THE ABILITY TO SPEAK DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. LIKE OUR MISSIONARIES WHO CAN COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY IN THEIR NEW ASSIGNMENTS AS THE APOSTLES DID.

    READ FURTHER.

    1 COR 14
3But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. 4He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. 5I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,[c] but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues,[d] unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.

6Now, brothers, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction? 7Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the flute or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes?

ST. PAUL IS TEACHING US THAT SPEAKING IN PROPHESY OR WORD OF INSTRUCTION IS BETTER THAN SPEAKING IN TONGUES. ON THE OTHER HAND, IN THE TEACHINGS OF THE CHARISMATICS AND OF PENTECOSTAL SPEAKING IN TONGUE IS A SIGN OF HIGHER SPIRITUALITY. THAT IS WRONG. IT IS CONTRARY TO WHAT ST. PAUL TEACHES IN 1 COR 14. PLUS, ST. PAUL DIDN'T DESCRIBE SPEAKING IN TONGUE AS SPEAKING GIBBERISH BUT UTTERING THE MYSTERIES UNDERSTANDABLE TO GOD ALONE.

"The object of this chapter is to show them that the ability to speak in a plain, clear, instructive manner, so as to edify the church and convince sinners, was a more valuable endowment than the power of working miracles, or the power of speaking foreign languages." [Barnes Notes on the Bible]

    CLARKE'S COMMENTARY ON THE BIBLE:
"Desire spiritual gifts - Ye are very intent on getting those splendid gifts which may add to your worldly consequence, and please your carnal minds - but labor rather to get the gifts of God's Spirit, by which ye may grow in grace, and be useful to others - and particularly desire that ye may prophesy - that ye may be able to teach and instruct others in the things of their salvation."

IT TEACHES US TO TEACH AND INSTRUCT OTHERS NOT TO PRACTICE GIBBERISH MODE OF SPEAKING.

    MATTHEW HENRY'S CONCISE COMMENTARY:
14:1-5 Prophesying, that is, explaining Scripture, is compared with speaking with tongues. This drew attention, more than the plain interpretation of Scripture; it gratified pride more, but promoted the purposes of Christian charity less; it would not equally do good to the souls of men. What cannot be understood, never can edify. No advantage can be reaped from the most excellent discourses, if delivered in language such as the hearers cannot speak or understand. Every ability or possession is valuable in proportion to its usefulness. Even fervent, spiritual affection must be governed by the exercise of the understanding, else men will disgrace the truths they profess to promote.

PROPHESYING OR TEACHING IS BETTER THAN SPEAKING IN TONGUES BECAUSE IT FEEDS THE EGO ONLY. WHILE PROPHESYING OR TEACHING EDIFIES THE CHURCH. SOUNDS WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING IS WRONG AND NOT ONLY THAT DANGEROUS.

    #14 - CHARISMATIC RENEWAL

IT ATTACKS DIRECTLY "the very existence of the Church," leading to "extinguishing the real flame of Pentecost, disregarding the thought of Christ and of the whole of Tradition." - POPE PAUL VI, MAY 17, 1972

"We regard it [the charismatic movement] bluntly as one of the most dangerous trends in the Church in our time, closely allied in spirit with other disruptive and divisive movements threatening grave harm to unity and damage to countless souls." - Archbishop Dwyer of Portland, Oregon, 1974 (Archbishop Dwyer’s criticism appeared in an interview published in the National Catholic Register, July 21, 1974).

    'LORD, LORD'
"Voices in the millions cry, 'love, love,' reaching up in charismatic renewal of what, My children? They implore the Spirit; why do they not implore My Son in the Eucharist? The Eternal Father sends the Spirit at His will. Men shall not gather to thrust themselves out into the universe. I say unto you, for My Son, that all who cry, 'Lord, Lord,' shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven!
"All who stand before My Son as teachers in His House, shall they stand before Him and say that their teaching has been pure in His sight? Will you stand before Him, O clergy, and say that you have prophesied for Him? And what did you do but bring in doctrines of devils into My Son's House! He shall take you in your defilement and cast you into the eternal fires of hell." - Our Lady, April 9, 1977

    FLEE
"Many call upon the Holy Spirit, My child, but the spirits they invoke are not from Heaven and the light. They come up fast from the abyss. Flee! Have no part of these gatherings, for they are not from the light. In time, My children, you will evidence the disasters that these gatherings provoke. Many who should know better have given themselves over to this diversion. You need not this diversion. My Son is always with you in the Eucharist.
"My children, many are turning from your Sacraments, searching for a new world, a world that is abounding with the word 'love, love!' But who knows the true meaning of the word love? How many are willing to sacrifice for this love? How many are willing to starve themselves of their worldly desires for this love? How many would be willing to give their lives for this love?" - Our Lady, June 15, 1974

    GOOD INTENT
"Though their hearts may have started with good intent, this novelty and experimentation--My children, I assure you, what you are calling 'Pentecostals' and calling down upon you the 'Spirit,' it is a devious and insidious evil created by satan to take away from you the knowledge and the need for the institutionalized Church." - Jesus, May 20, 1978

    CONDEMNED
"Yes, My child, many have given themselves to disobedience of your Holy Father, your Vicar. We have asked him to condemn the practice of calling upon the spirit. He has followed the direction of the Father, but many of his clergy have fallen into disobedience of your Vicar." - Our Lady, June 15, 1974

    TRUE TONGUES
"When the Eternal Father permitted His Apostles to speak in tongues, it was knowledgeable to all of the tongue what they were speaking about. They did not go about babbling idly, My child, as We hear so many doing today upon your earth. They implore the Holy Spirit, but, My child, sadly they are calling down demons." - Our Lady, May 28, 1977

    SATAN'S WEB
"My child, you will meet with much disapproval by many of Our clergy. I prepare you for this, for many have fallen into the web of satan, not recognizing these gatherings of Pentecostals for what they truly are: a creation to distort and deceive." - Our Lady, June 15, 1974
