"To MY LORD, the most reverend and divinely beloved bishop Innocent, John sends greeting in the Lord, ...But seeing, as I said before, that we ought not merely to lament the evils which have been done, but also to amend them, I beseech your Charity to rouse yourself and have compassion, and do everything so as to put a stop to the mischief at this point. Having considered therefore all these things, and having been clearly informed of all particulars by my lords, our most devout brethren the bishops, may you be induced to exert your zeal on our behalf; for in so doing you will confer a favour not upon ourselves alone but also upon the Church at large, and you will receive your reward from God who does all things for the peace of the Churches. Fare you well always, and pray for me, MOST HONORED AND HOLY MASTER"
This is an excerpt from the Letter of saint John Chrysostom, Patriarch of Constantinople to Pope Innocent of Rome. It seems that even this great patriarch of Constantinople recognizes the Primacy and authority of the Bishop of Rome. He Even ask the Pope to interfere!!

let us take a look on St. Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch how he acknowledges the Diocese of ROME in his EPISTLE TO THE ROMANS:
ReplyDeleteIgnatius, who is also called Theophorus, to the Church which has obtained mercy, through the majesty of the Most High Father, and Jesus Christ, His only-begotten Son; the Church which is beloved and ENLIGHTENED BY THE WILL of HIM that wills all things which are according to the love of Jesus Christ our God, WHICH ALSO PRESIDES IN THE PLACE OF THE REGIONS OF THE ROMANS, WORTHY OF GOD, WORTHY OF HONOR, WORTHY OF THE HIGHEST HAPPINESS, WORTHY OF PRAISE, WORTHY OF OBTAINING HER DESIRE, WORTHY OF BEING DEEMED HOLY AND WHICH PRESIDES OVER IN LOVE , is named from Christ, and from the Father, which I also salute in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father: to those who are united, both according to the flesh and spirit, to every one of His commandments; who are filled inseparably with the grace of God, and are purified from every strange taint, [I wish] abundance of happiness unblameably, in Jesus Christ our God.

I cannot pass judgment on that prayer book because I do not know the content of the alleged prayer. The content of the prayer will make it acceptable or not, plus the Imprimature and Nihil Obstat of the material.
ReplyDeleteCHAIN LETTERS SUCH AS MAKE 9 COPIES OF A NOVENA MUST BE REJECTED. DON'T BELIEVE THE TREAT THAT SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU. THIS IS NOT COMAPATIBLE WITH THE IMAGE OF A PEACEFUL AND LOVING GOD.
