ReplyDeleteFather, may tradation ako na nasunod ko sa mga ninuno ko, siguro okey lang gumamit ng kamanyan while praying and blessing our home during vesperas ng new year? Kasi sabi ng lolo ko na the very first thing na gawin ko rawbago mag new year ay mag offer ako ng prayer at insenso sa panginoon. Kasi daw mas maganda ang buhay ng buong taon kung sisimulan mo ng dasal at ensenso.

Heb 12: 22-23 – "…you have approached Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and countless angels in festal gathering, and the assembly of the firstborn enrolled in heaven, and God the judge of all, and the spirits of the just made perfect, and Jesus the mediator of a new covenant..." [Refers to the souls of the Old Testament exemplars of faith who are not dead, but live on in the spirit. It also refers to the souls of the early Christian martyrs like Sts. Stephen & James.]
SOULS OF THE RIGHTEOUS & JUST [Saints] ARE IN HEAVEN WITH GOD
Wis 1:15 For RIGHTEOUSNESS IS IMMORTAL. [RSV-CE]
Wis 3:1 The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them. [RSV-CE]
Rev 6:9-10 When he broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of all the people who had been killed on account of the word of God, for witnessing to it. They shouted aloud, "Holy, faithful Master, how much longer will you wait before you pass sentence and take vengeance for our death on the inhabitants of the earth?" [Martyrs go to heaven before the Judgment; they are alive! Note that this takes place before the resurrection, before the end of the world, before the Judgment, while life is going on as usual on the earth. Also, the martyrs, despite being "dead", have their own memories, and remember that they have been martyred. So to say that these martyrs "know nothing" (Eccl 9:5) in the sense of being unconscious would be incorrect.]
Rev 8:3-4 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

EVEN IN THE OLD TESTAMENT THERE IS ALREADY A DECLARATION THAT THE SAINTS ARE IN THE COMPANY OF GOD:
ReplyDeleteDeuteronomy 33:2-3 "And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with TEN THOUSANDS OF SAINTS: from his right hand went a fiery law for them. Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words."
IN v. 3 IT IS STATED THAT THE SAINTS ARE IN THE HAND OF GOD BUT PRIOR TO THAT IN v. 2 THE SAINTS ARE PRESENTED AS COMPANIONS OF THE LORD. THEY ARE IN THE COMPANY OF THE LORD. SO, THEY ARE NOT JUST DUSTING AS THEY ARE CLAIMING BUT THEY ARE ALIVE WITH THE LORD. THEY HAVE BEEN REWARDED BY BEING WITH HIM.
ANOTHER IS THAT ON THE FINAL JUDGMENT THE LORD WILL COME WITH HIS SAINTS ALREADY IN HIS COMPANY:
Jude 1:14-16 (King James Version)
14And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, THE LORD COMETH WITH TEN THOUSANDS OF HIS SAINTS,
15To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
16These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
THE LORD JESUS HIMSELF CONFIRMED WHEN HE TOLD THE REPENTANT THIEF: "TODAY, YOU WILL BE WITH ME IN PARADISE" [Luke 23:43]. THE LORD DIDN'T SAY: "WAIT FOR THE FINAL JUDGMENT ON THE LAST DAY". EXCUSE ME.
BESIDES, THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN SAINTS IN HEAVEN WILL BE GIVEN THE HONOR TO JUDGE THE PRESENT GENERATION:
Luke 11:32 "The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here."
THE PEOPLE OF NINEVEH WHO REPENTED IN FASTING AND ASHES WILL BE WITH THE LORD AND WILL BE GIVEN THE HONOR TO JUDGE THE NON-REPENTANT ISRAELITES.
Matthew 19:28 (King James Version) "And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."
NOT ONLY THE NINEVITES OF THE OLD TESTAMENT, THE SAME HONOR WILL BE GIVEN TO THE APOSTLES AND TO THE CHRISTIANS WHO REMAINED FAITHFUL IN THE SERVICE OF THE LORD AS THE LORD HIMSELF STATED IN MATTHEW 11:28.
THEREFORE, IT IS WELL ESTABLISHED THAT PRIOR TO THE GENERAL AND FINAL JUDGMENT THERE WERE OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN DECLARED SAVED AND HAVE BEEN GIVEN IMMEDIATE JUDGMENT LIKE THE REPENTANT THIEF, ABRAHAM, NINEVITES AND THE APOSTLES.

ReplyDeleteBut as I started to serve the Holy Mass I found another explanation that convinced me. I found it on the Gen. Instruction of the Roman Missal that Incense is the symbol that our prayers are rising above to the Lord.
