Kasi sabi ng lolo ko na the very first thing na gawin ko rawbago mag new year ay mag offer ako ng prayer at insenso sa panginoon. Kasi daw mas maganda ang buhay ng buong taon kung sisimulan mo ng dasal at ensenso.

fr. abe may mga Filipino Catholics na gumagamit ng stick na incense in praying... it was labeled as frankincense... main product mismo ng incense stick... okay lang po ba ito??? di nila ginagamit sa feng shui or whatever quak doctor ritual, sa Catholic prayer po, sa sementeryo, or tuwing New Year,basta during prayer po??? Mabuti po ba ito???

ReplyDeleteSTRICTLY SPEAKING ANG STICK INCENSE ORIGINATED FROM BUDDHISM, SHINTO AND TAOISM. IF THESE ARE USED BY CATHOLICS IN ORDER TO DO THE SPIRITUALITY OF THESE RELIGION IT BECOMES IMPROPER AND NEW AGE PRACTICE FOR US. BUT IF THE INCENSE ARE USED MERELY AS AN INSTRUMENT OF PRAYER IN CATHOLIC MANNER OF USING THE SACRAMENTALS IT IS OK. THERE IS NO LAW IN OUR CHURCH THAT SAYS INCENSE MUST ONLY BE USED IN ITS POWERED FORM.

Is it recommended for the thurifer to incense the Paten and Chalice which contains the Body and Blood of Christ during the doxology or Great Amen? Because we are practicing this one during High Mass is it ok? But the other parishes and acolytes are not doing this they just get out during the singing of the acclimation than to stay until the great Amen is done.
It is advisable to do so. The Doxology is the Summit and Climax of the Canon. It is fitting to incense the Patten and the Chalice from below the Altar. It is a pity that others are leaving while the Lord's Body and Blood are raised and proclaimed. That is very insulting.

ReplyDeleteBecause there's a discussion that happened between our altar servers, some of them preferred to stay until the completion of the great amen while others wants to get out after the celebrant says "Let us proclaim the Mystery of Faith" I preferred to stay until the great amen since this is the practice that I found during Papal Masses also some Archdiocese and dioceses in the Philippines are doing so particulary Archdiocese of Cebu.
