Question lang po Padre. When and what heretical movement first questioned the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ? Was it Docetism in the 1st century of Arianism in the 4th century?

The First Heresy to deny categorically the Divinity of Jesus is EBIONISM founded by Ebion. This is a group of heretical Jews who taught that the Lord Jesus is fully human and not Divine. However,they failed to convince the believers. The one who truly propagated the denial of the Divinity of Jesus is Arius of Alexandria. He succeeded in converting many places to his heresies but St. Athanasius and the succeeding Fathers of the Church successfully defeated this group.
Docetism is a heresy that teaches Jesus is only God but not human.
Then, Apollinarianism teaches that Jesus is God but not fully human because it teaches that the spirit of Jesus is replaced by the Divine Spirit. Thus Jesus had a body and soul but no human spirit.

Fr Abe, sa tingin ko ang pinakaunang heretico na hindi nainiwala sa pagkadiyos ni Cristo ay si Judas Iscariote. Kaya nga niya ipinagkanulo ang Panginoon eh dahil hindi na siya bilib sa kanya. Tama po ba ako Fr?

Is it too boastful to assert that one can be saved by faith alone? that I don't need religion to establish personal relationship with God?
ReplyDeletePadre Abe, why do you think is the reason that the INC,and SDA hierarchies still believe that our Lord Jesus is just a man when it can be historically and biblically proven that Ebionism is the first heretical group that denied the divinity of our Lord, and that St John wrote his gospel to combat this heresy? Sts. Ignatius and Polycarp even continued to combat this heretical group. This means to say that the early church believed and lived the faith that our Lord Jesus is both God and man. Do you think it is pride or do you think that they really believed in the teaching of their founders? Do they even believe in early Christian history or do they just believe Christian history after their respective churches were founded?

ReplyDeleteYES. THAT IS TOO BOASTFUL. EVEN GOD AND THE LORD JESUS DIDN'T TEACH US THAT WE CAN BE SAVED BY FAITH ALONE. NEVER EVER.
THAT HERESY IS INVENTED ONLY BY MARTIN LUTHER DURING THE 16TH CENTURY AND CONTINUED BY THE BORN AGAIN AS WELL AS PROTESTANT HERETICS.
