The Holy Spirit revealed Himself with the Father and the Son during the Baptism of the Lord in the Jordan.

Dear Father Abe,

JOHN 14:15-17 "If you love me you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter to be with you forever - the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him for he lives with you and will be in you."
JOHN 14:25,26 "All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
JOHN 15:26 "When the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me."
JOHN 16:7,8 "But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment...."
JOHN 16:13-15 "But when he, the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it know to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you."
SO, IT IS BUT NATURAL THAT BEFORE THE INCARNATION OF CHRIST THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS ALREADY PRESENT IN THE WORLD BECAUSE HE IS THE SPIRIT OF GOD [Genesis 1:1-2]. BUT AT THE SAME TIME THIS SAME HOLY SPIRIT IS THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST BECAUSE JESUS IS GOD:
* Galatian 4:6 "The Spirit of the Son"
* 1 Peter 1:11 "The Spirit of Christ"
SO, THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS PRESENT BEFORE CHRIST AS THE TRANSCENDENTAL SPIRIT OF GOD BUT WHEN JESUS WAS HERE ON EARTH THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS PRESENT IN HIS PERSON IN A PERFECT AND ABSOLUTE MANNER. AND WHEN JESUS WENT UP TO HEAVEN AGAIN HE PROMISED TO REMAIN WITH US UNTIL THE END OF TIME [cf. Matthew 28:19-20] THROUGH HIS SPIRIT.
ANG TANONG:
KUNG SI MOHAMMAD ANG COMFORTER PAPANO SIYA NAGING NAUNA KAY CRISTO?
KUNG SI MOHAMMAD ANG COMFORTER IBIG SABIHIN BEFORE MOHAMMAD WALANG COMFORTER?
ABA'Y HINDI PWEDE YAN. KASI ANG PRESENCE OF GOD AS A COMFORTER, GUIDE AND PROVIDER OF THE WORLD AY PRESENT NA NUON PA MAN.
PALPAK. ANG COMFORTER AY IPINANGAKO NI CRISTO SA KANYANG MGA APOSTOLES HINDI SA MGA ARABO HUNDREDS OF YEARS LATER. NO, NO, NO...

Thank Father Abe. Mohammad as the Comforter promised in the New Testament can be easily refuted as per your post. Father Abe, with your permission let me add that:
ReplyDelete1. Muhammad is a man, and not a spirit. The Comforter promised is the Spirit of truth, the Spirit of the Father, and the Spirit of the Son. There is no apostolic teaching, tradition or historical or biblical proof that Muhammad is the Spirit of God.
2. JOHN 14:15-17 "If you love me you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter to be with you forever - the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him for he lives with you and will be in you."
How can Muhammad "lives with you and will be in you" if he didn't show up until the 6th century?
But the Holy Spirit came right away when Jesus ascended to heaven.
Acts 1
1In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5For John baptized with[a] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2
1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
THEY ONLY MISTAKENLY GIVE TO HIM THE ROLE OF THE COMFORTER WHICH WE CORRECTLY ATTRIBUTE TO THE HOLY SPIRIT. PERO ANG MGA MUSLIM AY NANINIWALA NA ANG DIOS AY SPIRIT. WALA NGA SILANG INCARNATION E KAYA ABSOLUTE SPIRITUAL BEING ANG GOD NILA.
ReplyDeleteMaraming maraming salamat po Fr. Abe. Maliwanag na po sa akin lahat.

Hello Fr. Abe!
Thank you and God Bless you Fr. Abe!
ReplyDeleteEssentially speaking all the good things that we do even our worship during the Holy Mass will not be efficacious for our Salvation if we are in state of Mortal Sin.
However, in the case of prayers it depends on the prayer. If we are reciting prayers asking for forgiveness and the grace to be reconciled with God then the Lord will grant us the grace to do so. But of course it requires genuine repentance and confessing our sins.
If we are in state of mortal sin we can still pray for others but our prayers are not efficacious for our own soul unless there is the real desire to repent and be reconciled with God sincerely and concretely.
[2. Okay bang paulit-ulit kang magconfess?]
If the same sin repeatedly committed then it must be repeatedly confessed also. Those sins that have been forgiven must not be repeated again unless it still bothers us. On the other hand, we must avoid having a scrupulous conscience that keeps on repeating things.
Father, I read in an article that we should NOT call protestants christians due to the following reasons:
ReplyDelete“He who hears you (Peter) hears me, and he who rejects you, rejects me, and he who rejects me, rejects him who sent me (Lk 10:16).” It could not be clearer: the Protestant who rejects the head, rejects Christ himself, and should not be granted the name Christian.
Christ establishes one Church with a single head: "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matt 16:19).
St. Paul is severe in his condemnation of false teachers, e.g. Protestants: “If any man preaches any other Gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Gal 1: 9).
In another passage he instructs Catholics to remove themselves from the bad society of non-Catholics: “And we charge you, brethren, in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ that you withdraw yourselves from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the Tradition which they have received of us” (2 Thess 3:6).
The Apostle St. John forbade any intercourse with heretics: “If any man come to you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into the house or welcome him” (2 Jo 1:10)”
here is the link to the article http://www.traditioninaction.org/religious/m013rpProtestantsChristians.html
PROTESTANTS ARE CHRISTIANS BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS GOD. We disagree with them on so many aspects of faith but we cannot deny the fact that we have a lot of essential elements of faith in common. THEY ARE CHRISTIANS.

Thank You Fr. Abe for your response again...
ReplyDeleteask ko lang po Okay lang din po ba na mag Dasal po ako ng Litany of Saints sa All Saints day? Thanks Fr.!
Protestants are not Christians. They are anti-Christians... Catholics are the only Christians. "To be Catholic is to be Christian and to be Christian is Catholic."
ReplyDeleteBAKIT NARINIG MO BA NA NAGSALITA ANG DIOS NILA NA SINABING WALANG INCARNATION?
eh sabi ng Dios ng RCC meron?
[parehu parin ba yung Dios? considering makaiba yung sinabi?]
PAREHO MO BANG NARINIG ANG DIOS NG MAGKABILANG PANIG?
Yes, the Litany of the Saints is a beautiful devotion to be recited during All Saints Day.
ReplyDelete[PROTESTANTS ARE CHRISTIANS BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS GOD]
ReplyDeleteso the manalistas are not christians then?
father i think protestants are not christians because they reject christ, "he who rejects you, rejects me..."
To be christian is to follow Christ
ReplyDeletehence the word CHRISTian
protestants DO NOT FOLLOW CHRIST
they DO NOT PARTAKE IN THE BODY AND BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST
THEY REJECT HIS PRESCENCE IN THE EUCHARIST
THEREFORE THEY REJECT CHRIST
Before Vatican II, the Magisterium was always very clear: It is not a matter of an individual’s character or traits. No one can be in the Church of Christ without professing the ensemble of the truths of Catholic Faith, being in unity with the Chair of Peter and receiving the same Seven Sacraments. The only Christian is one who accepts Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Church he established. Who can have God for Father and not accept the Church for Mother? (Pope Pius IX, Singulari quidem of March 17, 1856) Who can accept the spouse Christ, and not his mystical bride the Church? Who can separate the Head, the only begotten Son of God, from the body, which is His Church? (Pope Leo XIII, Satis cognitum of June 29, 1896). It is not possible.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.traditioninaction.org/religious/m013rpProtestantsChristians.html
even Pope Leo XIII considers Protestants NOT christians
BRO. FRANCO, INASMUCH AS I WANT TO AGREE WITH YOU BUT THE OFFICIAL STAND OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THAT PROTESTANTS ARE CHRISTIANS... WE ARE REFERRING TO THOSE WHO ACCEPT OUR GOD AS ONE IN THREE DIVINE PERSONS.
ReplyDeleteANONYMOUS. IT IS NOT ENOUGH THAT YOU NAME ENCYCLICALS. WILL YOU BE SO KIND SO AS TO GIVE THE EXACT QUOTES WITH THE NO. OF ARTICLE. WE SHALL EXAMINE YOUR QUOTE AND CONTEXT THOROUGHLY.
ReplyDeleteThere is only one true, holy, Catholic church, which is the Apostolic Roman Church. There is only one See founded in Peter by the word of the Lord,[3] outside of which we cannot find either true faith or eternal salvation. He who does not have the Church for a mother cannot have God for a father, and whoever abandons the See of Peter on which the Church is established trusts falsely that he is in the Church.[4]
ReplyDeletehttp://www.papalencyclicals.net/Pius09/p9singul.htm
Thus, there can be no greater crime, no more hideous stain than to stand up against Christ, than to divide the Church engendered and purchased by His blood, than to forget evangelical love and to combat with the furor of hostile discord the harmony of the people of God.[5]
PROTESTANTS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS
What is it that the Church does not tolerate? What is it that she censures and absolutely condemns in virtue of her mission to preserve what has been entrusted to her? The Church has always condemned and continues to condemn the conduct of those who abuse their reason; those who do not fear to foolishly and criminally prefer reason to the authority of what God Himself says; those who boldly exalt themselves; those who, blinded by their pride and their vanity, lose the light of truth and proudly spurn the faith of which it is written: "Whoever does not believe will be condemned."[12] Full of confidence in themselves,[13] they deny that we must believe in God for Himself and accept what He taught us about Himself. The Church does not cease to oppose these people,[14] since whenever something deals with the very knowledge of God, it is God whom we should believe. It is from Him that all we believe about Him comes, because man could not know God if He Himself did not communicate this salutary knowledge.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.papalencyclicals.net/Pius09/p9singul.htm
So the Christian is a Catholic as long as he lives in the body: cut off from it he becomes a heretic - the life of the spirit follows not the amputated member" (S. Augustinus, Sermo cclxvii., n. 4).
ReplyDeletehttp://www.papalencyclicals.net/Leo13/l13satis.htm
as you can see father even the late pope leo xiii
do not consider protestants christians
BY CALLING THEM CHRISTIANS IT JUST SHOWS THAT WE TOLERATE THEIR IGNORANCE
ReplyDeleteTHERE IS NOTHING THERE THAT SAYS PROTESTANTS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS. THE PROTESTANTS DO NOT REJECT THE CHURCH PER SEE BUT THEY ONLY HAVE A DISTORTED DOCTRINE OF ECCLESIOLOGY.
ReplyDeleteACTUALLY, THESE QUOTES IS ALSO APPLICABLE TO SEDEVACANTISTS AND SSPX.
THEY ARE CHRISTIANS. NOT BECAUSE YOU DENY THEIR BEING CHRISTIANS THEY ARE NO LONGER SUCH. IN FACT, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECOGNIZE THE VALIDITY OF BAPTISM OF MAJOR PROTESTANT SECTS.
ReplyDeleteA PERSON VALIDLY BAPTIZED IS A CHRISTIAN.
ReplyDeleteYOUR QUOTE IS OUT OF THE TOPIC. THERE IS NOTHING THERE THAT SAYS PROTESTANTS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS.
A VALIDLY BAPTIZED PROTESTANT HAS BEEN INCORPORATED INTO CHRIST THROUGH THE BAPTISM THAT HE RECEIVED.
[A VALIDLY BAPTIZED PROTESTANT HAS BEEN INCORPORATED INTO CHRIST THROUGH THE BAPTISM THAT HE RECEIVED.]
ReplyDeleteAND YET THEY DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN ORIGINAL SIN
[THEY ARE CHRISTIANS. NOT BECAUSE YOU DENY THEIR BEING CHRISTIANS THEY ARE NO LONGER SUCH. IN FACT, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECOGNIZE THE VALIDITY OF BAPTISM OF MAJOR PROTESTANT SECTS.
A PERSON VALIDLY BAPTIZED IS A CHRISTIAN.]
YES THE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECOGNIZES TRINITARIAN BAPTISM WHICH IS "CATHOLIC" IN THE FIRST PLACE
ALL THE THINGS THAT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH APPROVE WITH PROTESTANTS ARE CATHOLIC TO BEGIN WITH!
[AND YET THEY DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN ORIGINAL SIN]
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS OUT OF THE TOPIC. I DIDN'T SAY THAT THEY BELIEVE IN ORIGINAL SIN.
[YES THE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECOGNIZES TRINITARIAN BAPTISM WHICH IS "CATHOLIC" IN THE FIRST PLACE]
HA, HA, HA... SO, YOU ALREADY ADMITTED THAT THE TRINITARIAN BAPTISM IS VALID. IF THE PROTESTANTS ARE VALIDLY BAPTIZED THEY ARE CHRISTIANS.
A VALIDLY BAPTIZED PERSON IS A CHRISTIAN. IF HIS FAITH IS ERRONEOUS THEN HE IS A HERETIC BUT STILL A CHRISTIAN. A HERETIC IS A CHRISTIAN WITH ERRONEOUS BELIEFS. NOT BECAUSE HIS DOCTRINES ARE WRONG OR ERRONEOUS OR PARTIAL DOES NOT MEAN THAT HE IS NOT CHRISTIAN.
[ALL THE THINGS THAT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH APPROVE WITH PROTESTANTS ARE CATHOLIC TO BEGIN WITH!]
OF COURSE. I AGREE WITH THAT. I STATED THAT IN MY DEBATES WITH THEM.
BUT THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE HERE. ARE THE PROTESTANTS CHRISTIANS? IF THEY ARE VALIDLY BAPTIZED THEN THEY ARE CHRISTIANS. THE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECOGNIZES THE VALIDITY OF THEIR BAPTISM DONE WITH TRINITARIAN FORMULA.
Dear Father,
ReplyDeleteAccording to Noah Webster Dictionary Cross is a symbol of Christianity therefore those people who are not signing the cross before and after prayer exactly they are not a Christian.
YES. THAT IS TRUE.
ReplyDeleteWho is a true Christian?
ReplyDeleteA true Christian is he who is baptized, who believes and professes the Christian Doctrine, and obeys the lawful pastors of the Church.
http://www.cin.org/users/james/ebooks/master/pius/pprelim.htm
FOR BETTER EXPLANATION READ THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH PROMULGATED BY BLESSED POPE JOHN PAUL THE GREAT.
ReplyDeleteChildren baptized in other communions really belong to the Church, "for," as St. Augustine says, "Baptism is the privilege of the true Church, and so the benefits which flow from Baptism are necessarily fruits which belong only to the true Church. Children baptized in other communions cease to be members of the Church only when, after reaching the age of reason, they make formal profession of heresy, as, for example, by receiving communion in a non-Catholic church."
ReplyDeleteHe is not a true Christian who is ignorant of his faith. Such a one might as well call himself a doctor though knowing nothing of medicine. "Nor is he a true Christian," says St. Justin, "who does not live as Christ taught him to live." "If you want to be a Christian," says St. Gregory Nazianzen, "you must live the life of Christ;" and St. Augustine: "A true Christian is the man who is gentle, good, and merciful to all, and shares his bread with the poor." Christ Himself said that His disciples should be known by their love one for another (John 13:35).
