KATANUNGAN TUNGKOL SA HANDAAN AT KAUGALIAN TUWING ALL SAINTS DAY

Good day father,
Ask lang po ako father, but po pag-araw nang mga patay, kadalasan especially sa probinsya may handaan pa na nagaganap, at may itatabi pa para daw sa mga kaluluwa.

junbacalando ________________________________________________ Dear Bro. Juneval, Please bear in mind that Nov. 1 is a FEAST. Yan ay FIESTA in honor of ALL THE SAINTS. So, we celebrate them joyfully. We eat and drink. It's a celebration of a great feast. Now, it so happened that the following day is ALL SOULS DAY [Nov 2]. So, at the same time we pray for our dead hoping that they too will be given the grace to be in heaven and be included among the saints.
Now, the food being set aside for the dead is NOT a Catholic Doctrine. That is just a pious act of love done by our people. It is just a gesture expressing our love and affection of the beloved departed. We express our intense love that we miss them and we show that even if they are gone here on earth they are still part of our family, of our life and that we still consider them part of our home and food. Just like when a beloved died. Usually we still keep his clothes, we still arrange his bed, we still prepare his room as if he will return soon. It is just a loving expression of deep longing for that beloved. Surely the dead will not be able to eat the food or lay on the bed or enjoy the comfort of the room. We are doing it as expressions of love.

  3. Tulad ng sabi ko hindi doctrina, aral o turo ang mga bagay na iyon kundi pious practices. Mga gawaing mabuti at nagpapahayag ng pagmamahal natin at sumasalamin sa aing pananampalataya.

    DEPENDE SA ACT.

    IF YOU MURDER THAT IS OF COURSE AGAINST FAITH. BUT IF YOU GIVE A ROSE TO A GIRL THAT IS AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE THEREFORE IN HARMONY WITH FAITH. IF YOU GIVE FOOD TO THE HUNGRY THAT IS A MANIFESTATION OF FAITH. WHEN THE FAMILY CELEBRATES TOGETHER BEFORE THE TOMB OF A BELOVED THAT IS EXPRESSION OF FAMILY UNITY AND LOVE OF THE DEPARTED...     father yun pong ibig sabihin ko yung mga gawa or acts na may kinalaman sa kaligtasan, pagiging banal o matters ukol sa Dios..

    giving a rose to a girl is has nothing to do with salvation or holiness..matters of personal na buhay ng tao sa mundo po yon..hindi po yung tanong ko..

    im more concerned with what we consider acts regarding teaching of God and Christ..

    sabi mo niyo po kasi HINDI DOKTRINA..

    kung hindi doktrina..yun po bang ACT o GAWA na yon is considered with in ACTS of Faith o outside, labas o hindi ACTS of faith..

  7. Please read carefully my answer. They are already contained therein.

    For instance:

    DOCTRINE: HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER. From the Ten Commandments.

    Practice: Kissing the cheek of your parents daily or The Mano Po or Visiting them once a year if you are from far away.

    Are these practices Doctrines? NO.
    Are these practices against the Doctrines? NO. ACTUALLY THEY ARE EXPRESSIONS AND MANIFESTATIONS OF OUR DOCTRINE. WE EXPRESS OUR HONOR AND LOVE OF PARENTS WHEN WE DO THEM.

    It is the same with these practices. They are not dcotrines but they are expressions of the doctrine. THEY ARE ACTIONS MANIFESTING THE FAITH CONCRETELY.

    so we can have acts or practices THAT ARE NOT PRACTICES OF DOCTRINE but are AGAINST THE DOCTRINE?

    if this is the case.Presumably these acts are acts within or of Faith..

    Can I decide WHAT ACTS WILL I PRACTICE OR DO WITH REGARDS TO THESE PRACTICES NOT AGAINST THE DOCTRINE CONCERNING SPIRITUALITY, HOLINESS AND SALVATION?

    Ano po ang guidelines natin sa mga gawang ito? I believe na walang problema dun sa mga binigay niyong example..like MANO PO sa mg elders..pagalala sa mga napayapang kamaganak..tama yon..actually NASA ACTS WITH IN LAW OF CHRIST AND FAITH YON..

    how about those that came from once mind or NAKAGISANAN na..hindi lang po ukol sa mga patay, kasama narin lahat ng mga gawain ukol sa mga bagay sa Dios or pagigin banal..

    Well, the practices that are compatible with faith are of course the MANO PO and those that are approved by the Church. For instance nga, going to cemeteries, lighting a candle, bringing flowers to the remains of the departed. These are Church approved actions. Now, since these are not doctrines but pious acts if you don't go to cemetery on Nov. 1 you are not committing sin. It is not imperative. But if you do them you are doing a pious act.

    Ano naman ang against the faith?

    THE SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEFS. Example, bawal magsuot ng pula pag may patay. Bawal ang sukob sa kasal, etc. These are traditions of men that are against the faith.

    THE BELIEF IN HOROSCOPES, FENG SHUI, DIVINATIONS, MEDIUMS, ETC. These are contrary tot he faith.

    THE NEW AGE PRACTICES AND DARK ARTS. Like the spirit of the glass or of the coin. Sorcery, witchcraft and the likes.

    all is clear now..

    Now the problem is at access to Catechism and how to teach the elders na mali ang mga supersititious beliefs..admittedly these are ACTS AGAINST THE DOCTRINE..pero ang common belief ng mga matatandang catholics eh.."..WALA NAMAN MAWAWALA.." =)

    hindi nila alam MALAKI ANG NAWAWALA..NAWAWALA YUNG FAITH SA DIOS at NAPUPUNTA SA IBA..

    i suggest that in the homily and other teachings of the CHURCH we should be more vocal and clear regarding some ACTS OUTSIDE OF FAITH..

    again..maraming salamat po sa time..

    Please comment on this: "You Catholics are so complicated. The bible is not complicated. The teachings are just very clear and easy to understand. The apostles, the evangelists and other inspired writers did write what was only comprehensible except for a few. You (Catholics) make things so vastly and gigantically complicated when you make your Catechism of the Catholic Church."

    I've hear it from a protestant apologist over a radio program.

    WE ARE NOT COMPLICATED IN FACT OUR FAITH AND OUR WORSHIP ARE CODIFIED AND PUBLISHED. THE PROTESTANTS ARE COMPLICATED BECAUSE EVERY FELLOWSHIP AND GROUP IS HAVING THEIR OWN SET OF DOCTRINES AND MANNER OF WORSHIP.

    PROTESTANTISM IS A THEOLOGICAL BABEL.

    4. ONCE SAVED WILL ALWAYS BE SAVED
    5. ALTAR CALL
    6. OBLIGATORY TITHING
    7. GOSPEL OF PROSPERITY

    AND MANY OTHERS.

    ON THE CONTRARY THE FACT THAT WE HAVE A CLEAR PUBLISHED MANUAL OF DOCTRINE MANIFESTS THAT WE HAVE A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF OUR FAITH. THE PROTESTANTS CANNOT PRODUCE A UNIFIED MANUAL OF FAITH BECAUSE THEY ARE CONFUSED AMONG THEMSELVES.

    AND BESIDES, HE IS A HYPOCRITE. THE PROTESTANTS ALSO HAVE MANUALS OF FAITH. THERE IS A SET OF DOCTRINES FOR LUTHERANS, ANGLICANS, MORMONS HAVE THEIR ADDITIONAL BIBLE, THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS THEY HAVE THE BOOKS OF ELLEN GOULD WHITE TO GUIDE THEM.

    THAT ONE IS OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY.
