JERUSALEM, MAY 5, 2011 (Zenit.org).- The Catholic nanny who saved her Jewish ward during the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai is being recognized by the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation. Sandra Samuel saved 2-year-old Moshe Holtzberg when terrorists attacked the Nariman House, a Jewish center in Mumbai run by Moshe's parents, Rabbi Gavriel Noach Holtzberg and his wife, Rivka. The rabbi, his wife and their unborn child were killed in the attack. Samuel, an India native, and Moshe now live in Israel, with Moshe's grandparents. The Wallenberg Foundation aims to pay tribute to the "Saviors of the Holocaust," recognizing those who risked their lives to save Jews from the Nazis during the Second World War. But the foundation will be honoring Samuel with a tribute Friday, at a Holocaust remembrance day leading up to Israel's independence celebrations next week. Moshe and his grandparents will light one of the torches at the official Independence Day celebrations.
