- Mary is the mother of God. This statement is not true and nowhere to be found in the whole scripture. Make a search in the Bible for the word “mother of god” and it will yield a negative result and then again try searching the exact phrase “mother of Jesus” in the King James Version of the Bible and it will show at least three (3) verses.

Araw-araw bagu mag May 8 ngaung linggo ay may mga pari sa iba't ibang lugar ang nag-mimisa. Kung posible lang ay sana isa kau sa naimbitihan, Father, para makadalo ako sa isang misa na kau ang nangunguna at para marinig ko na rin kung panu kayo mag Homily. Sigurado ay sobrang galing nio po mag homily.
Nawa'y loobin ng Diyos na matauhan ang mga taong nilalait ang Ina ng Diyos na si Maria. Si Santa Maria pa naman ay kaisa natin sa mga panalangin natin.

ReplyDeleteTo Jews the word Kyrios was the Greek term employed for the Hebrew Adonai, which meant God. In John 20:28, St. Thomas confession of faith “my Lord and my God” was not rebuked by our Lord Jesus Christ.
ReplyDeleteSt. Elizabeth in Luke 1:43 greeted the mother of “my Lord and my God”, our Lord Jesus Christ “mother of my Lord”. She recognized Mary as the Queen Mother of the royal Son who will rule the throne of David.
The title Mary as Queen Mother is directly related to the first official Marian dogma defined by the Church in the council of Ephesus in 431 AD (please correct me father Abe if I am wrong): Mary as the Mother of God, Theotokos, which literally means “God-bearer.” It is one of the oldest and most commonly used titles used for our Mother Mary in the 1st century Christians.
These 1st Christians never hesitated calling her the “Mother of God.” In the 5th century, however, a man named Nestorius (whose church still remains today known as the Assyrian Church) raised the objection that some anti-Catholic in our days are raising: They object that the title “Mother of God” means that Mary was the originator of God. Being the “Mother of God” makes her a god too! They accept the title “Mother of Christ,” but not the “Mother of God.” They claimed that Mary gave birth ONLY to Christ’s human nature, not his divine.
Catholics object to this “objection” since it attacks the “unity” of Christ’s two natures. The Church led by Pope Celestine I and St. Cyril of Alexandria defended the Christian Tradition that Mary is the “Mother of God.” As St. Cyril argued, a mother gives birth to a person, not a nature (Iglesia Ni Cristo still do not understand this philosophical argument). So accordingly, our Mother Mary gave birth to our Lord Jesus Christ, who was and is a DIVINE PERSON! Although Mary DID NOT “generate” God, she did bear Him in her womb and gave birth to Him.
Nestorius was teaching that Jesus is both a human person and a divine person and this teaching was leading people astray. The Council of Ephesus tackled this matter and rejected this teaching and affirmed the ancient teaching of the Church. The Council declared that Jesus is ONE DIVINE PERSON, WITH TWO NATURES- DIVINE AND HUMAN; His human nature from her mother’s human nature and his divine nature from his Father’s divine nature. Mary DID NOT give him his divine nature or his divine personhood, Jesus possessed them from all eternity as the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON of the Father! Our mother Mary gave birth to the WHOLE PERSON OF CHIRST! She gave birth to our Lord Jesus Christ, both God and man.
This is the REAL reason why the Council of Ephesus officially DEFINES the title “Theotokos,” “Mother of God” to protect the ESSENTIAL TRUTH about our Lord. This is why the title Mary the “Queen Mother” is so related to this. This title in the Old Testament protects the legitimacy of the kingship of the son. The mother is the link between the father, the former rightful king and her son, the present rightful king. And in like manner the title “Mother of God” is the link between her Son’s humanity and divinity. She protects the legitimacy of the incarnation, that Jesus is both God and man.

The answer lies on what we know about how a person is conceived. A sperm fertilizes an egg and so a new life begins. The resulting new individual gets genes from both parents; male and female. Since we know from the scriptures that man, whether mother or father, has inherited the "original sin", the offspring would likewise inherit the sinful nature. Since Jesus did not have a biological father, He would only inherit the sinful nature from Mary. So we either maintain that Mary has been completely cleansed from her sins, or assumed that Mary too was immaculately conceived in order to have given birth to Jesus. However, look at this issue from this perspective. Did the Holy Spirit use a sperm to impregnate Mary, or did God form Jesus in Mary's womb?
Let us examine what we know from the scriptures.
1) We know for a fact that Jesus lead a sinless life.
2) We can all agree that Jesus does not have the sinful nature in Him. He only has the likeness of sinful flesh [Rom 8:3-4].
3) In Luke 1:35, the angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God." The Holy Spirit caused Mary to become pregnant with
child.
4) We can conclude that Mary was never inseminated with a human sperm because Mary was a virgin mother.

THUS, BY GOD'S PROTECTION MARY IS NOT TAINTED BY ORIGINAL SIN BECAUSE OF GOD'S GRACE.

THE MESSIAH IS THE SEED OF THE WOMAN. THUS, IN THE ABSENCE OF A MAN JESUS' GENES ARE BIOLOGICALLY AND TOTALLY TAKEN FROM MARY. JESUS IS THE FRUIT OF THE WOMB OF MARY... MARY IS THE TREE AND JESUS IS THE FRUIT, IF YOU WANT AN ANALOGY. THUS, THE HUMAN BODY OF JESUS IS FASHIONED BY GOD ONLY FROM THE SEED OF MARY.
THIS IS ANOTHER MIRACLE BECAUSE IN ORDINARY CASE THE HUMAN PERSON IS THE SEED OF BOTH FATHER AND MOTHER. AND PRIOR TO THE DISCOVERY OF MICROSCOPE PEOPLE WERE THINKING THAT THE CHILD IS PURELY THE SEED OF THE MAN ONLY. BUT GOD DECLARED THAT THE ONE WHO WILL VANQUISH THE DEVIL IS THE SEED OF THE WOMAN. IT IS FULFILLED IN MARY BECAUSE SHE IS A VIRGIN [cf. Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23].
