ReplyDeleteFather Abe, some fundamentalists/evangelicals and the INC say that our mass is unbiblical but history is on our side. Our mass is not just biblical but historical. If we are going to scrutinize the Catholic Liturgy, it actually presents the faith of the early Christians, our faith. The mass unfolds to us the doctrines of the Creation, Incarnation, and Redemption, and Catholics do this every day throughout the whole world. The Eucharist the central of the mass, the TRUE worship of God is surrounded by everything that Christians are supposed to do, prayers, scripture readings, petitions, songs, and incense.
Throughout the whole OT, the Jews offered sacrifices to God. Lamb, goat, fruits and vegetable, bread and wine, all these sacrifices place in altars to worship God. Sacrifice is synonymous with worship. Where there is an altar, there is a sacrifice. Since when do worship is all about sermons, scripture readings and songs only? Whatever happened to the sacrifice and a pure offering? Did God abolish ALL sacrifices?
Malachi 1:11
See, from the rising of the sun to its setting, all the nations revere my Name and everywhere incense is offered to my name as well as a pure offering.
Notice a pure offering is offered everyday by all the nations.
A non-Catholic will say, “if it is not in the bible it is not true. “ Well friends, the prophesy above is from the OT and it is in our bible, why don’t you practice and fulfill that prophesy?
As the Reformers rejected the Mass as the true worship of God, they were left with the NEED to create a new form of worship for their followers. They had to make up a new way to worship God and they end up with mass for the catechumens which ended with the sermon, no more Eucharistic Liturgy, just the Liturgy of the Word. The altar became nothing but a table, the priest became a minister, the sacrificial Mass was replaced by a sermon, and PRECHING became the normal worship. The pulpit became more important than the altar, and now a days no altars at all.
Why if you believe in the bible would you not offer the PURE sacrifice?
Is preaching purer than the Eucharist?
Why if you believe in the bible would you consider us the anti-Christ, when we are the ones who still offer sacrifice and a pure offering, and you are the ones who reject them?

ReplyDeleteFather Abe, a long time ago, I read some protestant historians who wrote that political and nationalistic motives were the motives behind the rise of biblical fundamentalism. King Gustav?, King Christian and others introduced Lutheranism because of avarice and ambition and for the benefit of the temporal state , and the same goes with Switzerland and Scotland.
These kings and nobles suppressed the Catholic Church because of material wealth, land and power. It was greed, lust and avarice of the nobility that suppressed the Church.
These reformers rejected the Eucharist, the heart and apex of the mass. They are like the 1st heretics in the time of St. Ignatius who “do not admit Eucharists and Offerings because they do not believe the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ who suffered for our sins.” (Epistles to the Smyrnians). By these words of St. Ignatius, it seems that the Reformers are good excamples of the Anti-Christ. Where is their pure offering given “from the rising of the sun to its setting?” Where is their PURE offering? Is there anything more pure than our Lord Jesus Christ?
Why did I say that these reformers maybe the anti-Christ? The Eucharist has been celebrated since the time of the apostles; it is biblical and historical as proven by the letters of Sts. Paul, John, Ignatius, Justin Martyr and Irenaeus. Then all of the sudden 1500 years later, the Lutherans and Anglicans will say that the Eucharists or the sacrifice of the mass is blasphemous and idolatrous? (Luther related that he had a discussion with the devil one midnight about the Eucharist). I’m pretty sure you have a source for this, Father Abe, I just forgot where I got it. Then the Anglicans who rejected the sacrifice of the mass and offerings and created their “Book of Common Prayer” copied from the Roman Mass Books and Breviaries made it their “worship.” And then lately these American based fundamentalists and evangelicals perpetuating this heretical belief, and our local INC.
So who put an end the sacrifice and offerings? Clearly it is not the Catholic Church but these late comers who pretended to be the "true Church" that Jesus built. Common sense will tell us that they are not the true Church since they were all founded lately,1500-2000 years after the Christ. While the true Church existed from the time of the Apostles and still alive today guided by the Holy Spirit.
