REFUTING AN ANONYMOUS SEDEVACANTIST

Pope Benedict XVI elevates the Chalice containing the Sacred Blood of the Lord

Why is the new Mass almost a replica of the service created by Protestant Bishop Cranmer under Henry VIII. They took away the Latin Mass and substituted Cranmer's stew. They forcibly made England Protestant. The Novus Ordo Mass is a Protestant memorial service. It smells of Cranmer. The seat of St Peter is vacant.

[Why is the new Mass almost a replica of the service created by Protestant Bishop Cranmer under Henry VIII.]

O NO, NO, NO... THE ANGLICAN SERVICE IS A REPLICA OF TLM NOT OF THE NEW MASS. IF THERE IS A SIMILARITY IT IS BECAUSE THE ANGLICAN SERVICE OF BISHOP CRANMER UNDER HENRY VIII SIMPLY COPIED MANY ELEMENTS FROM TLM AND THE EXISTING RITES OF THE ROMAN CHURCH DURING THE 16TH CENT. WHILE THE NOVUS ORDO JUST SIMPLIFIED THE TLM. HE HE HE... THE NOVUS ORDO WAS NOT EVEN IN EXISTENCE WHEN THE ANGLICAN SERVICE WAS INITIATED BY CRANMER. HE HE HE...

BOTH THE TLM AND THE NOVUS ORDO CONTAINED THE SACRIFICIAL ELEMENT OF TLM AND THE DOGMA OF TRANSUBSTANTIATION. SO THEY ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME. THE SERVICE OF CRANMER REMOVED THE TRANSUBSTANTIATION AND THEREFORE ESSENTIALLY DIFFERENT FROM BOTH TLM AND NOVUS ORDO.

STOP SHOWING YOUR SEVACANTIST MENTALITY HERE. YOU ARE BETTER BE CALLED "MENTEVACANTIST" [EMPTY MINDED]. HE HE HE...

[They took away the Latin Mass and substituted Cranmer's stew.]

THE LATIN MASS IS NEVER TAKEN AWAY. THE HOLY FATHER, THE SERVANT OF GOD POPE PAUL VI OF HAPPY MEMORY GENEROUSLY ALLOWED THE TRANSLATION INTO VERNACULAR OF THE LITURGY AS IT WAS DURING THE APOSTOLIC AND PATRISTIC TIMES. HE MADE THE LITURGY ACCESSIBLE TO SIMPLE PEOPLE UNLIKE THE TLM WHICH IS UNDERSTOOD ONLY BY PRIESTS AND SOME HIGHLY EDUCATED.

BECAUSE OF THAT MOVE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF ANGLICANS BECAME CATHOLIC UNLIKE DURING THE TLM ERA WHEN THERE WERE VERY FEW CONVERTS. NOW, BISHOPS AND PRIESTS FROM ANGLICAN CHURCH ARE CONVERTING EN MASSE TO PROVE THE STUPIDITY OF YOUR ALLEGATIONS.

[They forcibly made England Protestant.]

THE SIN OF HENRY VIII WHICH IS REFUSAL TO ACCEPT THE AUTHORITY OF THE POPE IN MATTERS OF DIVORCE IS ALMOST THE SAME SIN OF THE DEMONIC AND THE EQUALLY EXCOMMUNICATED MARCEL LEFEVBRE. THEY WERE POSSESSED BY THE SAME DEMON OF DISOBEDIENCE... ONE ON SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE WHILE THE OTHER ON LITURGY.

[The Novus Ordo Mass is a Protestant memorial service.]

HA HA HA... THE NOVUS ORDO IS A SHORT VERSION OF TLM. FROM ONE END TO ANOTHER. IT IS TLM IN ITS BASIC ELEMENTS WITHOUT THE NON-ESSENTIAL TRAPPINGS ADDED IN THE COURSE OF TIME.

[It smells of Cranmer.]

IT SMELLS OF TLM AND IT SMELLS OF POPE PAUL VI. HE HE HE... IT SMELLS OF THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH. IT SMELLS THE FACT THAT NOW THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE FASTEST GROWING CHURCH IN GREAT BRITAIN WITH NUMEROUS ANGLICAN CLERGY CONVERTING TO THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.

[ The seat of St Peter is vacant.]

ONLY FOOLS CLAIM THAT THE SEAT OF PETER IS VACANT. HE HE HE... EVEN THE ENEMIES OF THE CHURCH KNOW THAT THE SEAT OF PETER IS NOT VACANT. WE ARE SHOUTING: HABEMUS PAPAM, WHILE YOU ARE SHOUTING: NON HABEMUS PAPAM. HE HE HE... WE HAVE A POPE AND YOU HAVE THE DEVIL WITH YOU.

SEE, THE GATE OF HELL PREVAILED OVER YOU DUE TO THE ABSENCE OF THE POPE. HE HE HE... PATHETIC FOOLS. YOU WILL DIE LIKE LEFEVBRE... EMPTY UNTIL THE END.

YOU ARE FREE TO WALLOW IN YOUR OWN HALLUCINATIONS... BEING DELUSIONAL MUST BE FREE IN YOUR COUNTRY. HA HA HA...

  1. The Book of Common Prayer predates the Council of Trent and the Tridentine Mass. The first edition came out in 1549 and a revised edition in 1552. There was another revision in 1559 and then a major revision in 1662, the latter which lasted largely untouched until the 20th Century. Indeed, Cranmer died in 1556, about half-way through the Council and before Quo Primum was promulgated in 1570.

The Book of Common Prayer therefore is not the TLM translated but rather a translation of, as you said, "existing rites" with targeted bits of Protestant theology thrown in. Cranmer didn't want to change things too much because a large number of people in the pews were still Catholic or at least wanted to sit through the mass that was familiar. Larger, more wholesale, more obvious changes would result in more open rebellion. Indeed soon after the Book of Common Prayer was issued, Queen Mary succeeded to the throne in 1553 and tried to restore Catholicism. That didn't take. Elizabeth I became queen in 1558 and established the Elizabethan compromise.

The TLM and the Book of Common Prayer are similar not because one is a translation of the other but because they come out of the same tradition, Western Christianity. Cranmer changed a few points, but those points were key, and therefore, hid, if you will, Protestant beliefs inside a Catholic shell.

I think your correspondent's ignorance is also shown in his unspoken assumption that the TLM is the only approved liturgy of the Catholic Church. He seems to be saying that only the TLM is "truly Catholic." What of the nearly two dozen other non-Western Catholic Churches? Their liturgies and practices have very different from the TLM, have never been in Latin, and have been approved by numerous Popes over 2,000 years. Indeed the Vatican still, despite the schism with Orthodoxy, recognizes the legitimacy of much of Orthodoxy. These non-TLM liturgical practices are not a post-N.O. innovation.

God's mansion, his Church, the Catholic Church, has many rooms. Each can be very different, on the surface. To say that only one room, one way of doing things, my way, is the only way, is to deny the gift of liturgical diversity that the Church has always be blessed with.
