sigh, no wonder the Church has been having problems keeping numbers in their pews over the past years, decades even. No wonder there are fewer young men signing up to be priests, especially if the recent "role models" are those they see in the past few months.

This debate is a fear-tactic used by the Church again and again. Before, historically, it was about indulgences (not giving to the Church = going to hell), and astronomy (proclaiming that sun is the center of solar system = going to hell), and countless other proclamations used to fear people. Now, people realized that whatever the Church says isn't all true. Will there come a time in history when the Church (of the Philippines) will retract its statement?

And why is this issue so big in the Philippines? Maybe because the Church thinking still has remnants of the Spanish era, where the Church had control and influence the Spanish government. A hundred plus years later, the rest of the world has moved on, to be more progressive. Not us.

EXCUSE ME OUR PEWS ARE FILLED WITH PEOPLE. I THINK YOU ARE REFERRING TO THE ANGLICAN CHURCH IN BRITAIN AND NOT TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN THE PHILIPPINES. OUR CHURCHES ARE FILLED TO THE BRIM DURING OUR SUNDAY MASSES AND OUR SHRINES ARE FILLED TO OVERFLOWING DURING THE PILGRIM DAYS. SO BETTER CHECK YOUR FACTS.

THERE ARE A LOT OF YOUNG MEN ASPIRING TO THE PRIESTHOOD. IN FACT, WE ARE EXPULSING MANY SEMINARIANS WHO DO NOT PASS OUR STANDARDS IN THE SEMINARY.

IF THERE IS DIFFICULTY IN OUR YOUNG PEOPLE TO CHOOSE THE PRIESTHOOD THOSE CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE EVIL OF THE WEST SUCH AS PORNOGRAPY, PREMARITAL SEX WITH CONDOMS, SEXUAL PROMISCUITIES AND LACK OF CHRISTIAN VALUES IN MASS MEDIA WHICH ARE ALMOST ALL NOT CONTROLLED BY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

WHAT FEAR? WHO IS AFRAID OF US? THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE MOST LAMBASTED AND THE MOST INSULTED INSTITUTION IN PHILIPPINE MEDIA TODAY. BOTH THE GOVERNMENT, THE BORN-AGAIN, THE COMMUNISTS AND THE ATHEISTS ARE JOINING FORCES TO ATTACK US. THEN, YOU CALL THAT FEAR-TACTIC. EXCUSE ME YOUR CLAIM HAS NO FOUNDATION IN REALITY.

ON THE CONTRARY, THE EVANGELICALS, THE BORN-AGAIN, THE BAPTISTS, THE IGLESIA NI MANALO AT OTHES WERE THE ONES DEMANDING TITHING FROM THEIR MEMBERS COMPLETE WITH LIST OF MEMBERS AND THEIR SALARIES. SO, BEFORE YOU ACCUSE US OF SOMETHING PLEASE MAKE IT SURE THAT YOU ARE NOT CROSSED-EYED. YOU SHOULD SET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.

ANOTHER STUPIDITY. HA HA HA... NEVER DID WE TEACH THAT THOSE WHO PROCLAIM THAT THE SUN IS THE CENTER OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM IS GOING TO HELL. EXCUSE ME. YOU ARE A LIAR AND DECEIVER. HELLO, ARE YOU FROM THE PLANET EARTH?

OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE REFERRING TO THE GALILEO AFFAIR. BUT OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE IGNORANT OF THE REAL HISTORICAL FACTS INVOLVING THE ISSUE.

BEFORE GALILEO POSIT THAT THE EARTH ROTATES AROUND THE SUN THAT SCIENTIFIC THEORY [that time it was a theory] WAS ALREADY TAUGHT BY NICOLAUS COPERNICUS WHO WAS A FAITHFUL 'CATHOLIC'... AS IN 'ROMAN CATHOLIC'. HE HE HE... THE SCIENTIFIC IDEA THAT THE SUN IS THE CENTER OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM OR HELIOCENTRISM CAME FROM A VERY CATHOLIC SCIENTIST WHO WAS CLOSE FRIEND OF THE POPE DURING HIS LIFETIME.

GALILEO SUPPORTED THE COPERNICAN THEORY. BUT GALILEO COMMITTED MISTAKES BECAUSE HE WENT BEYOND SCIENCE. HE TAUGHT THAT THE BIBLE IS WRONG BECAUSE THE BIBLE ACCORDING TO HIM STATES THAT THE SUN IS THE ONE MOVING. OBVIOUSLY, GALILEO WAS REPRIMANDED BECAUSE THE BIBLE IS A BOOK OF FAITH AND HE WAS NOT A THEOLOGIAN. HIS IDEA WAS ONLY A THEORY YET HE WAS CLAIMING THAT THE BIBLE WAS WRONG. OF COURSE, THE BIBLE IS NOT WRONG BECAUSE IT WAS SIMPLY STATING BASIC HUMAN OBSERVATION THAT THE SUN WAS THE ONE MOVING. JUST LIKE UNTIL TODAY WE KEEP ON SAYING: "SUNRISE' OR 'SUNSET' WHEN IT FACT THE SUN DOES NOT MOVE IN ORBIT.

GALILEO WAS REPRIMANDED FOR HIS THEOLOGICAL ERRORS NOT FOR HIS SCIENTIFIC IDEAS WHICH WAS NOT ORIGINAL OF HIM. ANYWAY, AT THE END GALILEO RETRACTED HIS STATEMENT AND HE LIVED AND DIED AS A LOYAL AND FAITHFUL CATHOLIC. AND SO DID NICOLAUS COPERNICUS.

SO, PLEASE STOP SPREADING YOUR DELUSIONS HERE.

EXCUSE ME. WHEREVER THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THERE IS FREEDOM. OUR FAITHFUL ARE LIVING IN FREEDOM. YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN A SINGLE PROOF FOR YOUR CLAIM.

PEOPLE HAVE REALIZED THAT THE BEST CHRISTIAN RELIGION IS NO OTHER THAN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. AND PEOPLE REALIZED THAT NO INSTITUTION HAS FOSTERED THE RISE AND DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENCE AND OF JURISPRUDENCE THAN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. THAT IS WHY IN THE UNITED STATES THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS NOW THE LARGEST SINGLE GROUP AMONG ITS RELIGIONS. IT IS CONVERTING THE BEST OF THE BEST OF AMONG THE PROTESTANTS.

[Will there come a time in history when the Church (of the Philippines) will retract its statement?]

WHAT STATEMENT SHALL WE RETRACT? OUR OPPOSITION TO CONTRACEPTIVES AND ABORTIONS? NO WAY. YOUR BODY WILL ROT INSIDE THE GRAVE AND YOUR SOUL WILL WALLOW IN MISERY BUT THE CHURCH WILL NOT RETRACT OUR OPPOSITION OF THE RH BILL. MAY BE IN YOUR DREAMS. IT IS FREE TO ENJOY ONE'S DELUSIONS AND HALLUCINATIONS IN THIS COUNTRY... IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF THAT MAY THIS SERVE AS A REMINDER.
