ReplyDeletehaha. nangungulit na naman po ako, kung pwede lang po bang matawagan ng pansin yung catholic heirarchy dito sa metro manila partikular po dito sa Quezon City para palakasin ang apologetics program... sunod-sunod na rin po kasi ang malakihang pamamahayag ng INC dito at balita ko po ay paiigtingin pa ito habang lumalapit at ika-100 taon nila.. yun lng po at maraming salamat sa mga sagot ninyo. :)

Father ang gusto ko sanang debate eh yung e-mail debate. With e-mail debate it is more about the substance than the rhetorics.I noticed that in an e-mail debate the INCs cannot use a quote out of context because the other side will have the time to check the quote in its proper context. In a live debate the opponent don;t have enough time to check the quote, just like what happened in Ventilacion vs Keating debate.
ReplyDeleteThere was a forum debate in Rot PEX between an INC, ETEs and a Catholic, cedric_errol. ETEs used a quote out of context to prove his point and cedric-errol caught it. If that was a live debate the INC would have gotten away with it and people would think that they scored a big point. For INC it is just about scoring points, but for me it is about substance and finding out the truth.

Fr. good evening by the way I'm Eric Miagan 15yrs. of age and studying at Agusan del Sur National HS in MIndanao I find it very hard to defend out Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church esp. bec. of being ill-equipped, inexperienced and having very low knowledge on the Bible, Catechism and Church Doctrines. This problems almost made to fall at the trap laid by these people which means that i almost left The Fold. But by God's mercy I have learned about these websites and the apologetics which boost up my morale and faith for the Church. these made me strong and not afraid to fight for my faith till death like Saint Lorenzo Ruiz. I need your help and Spiritual Guidance in order to became a real faithful Catholic and a brave Apologetic.

ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your very inspiring message. Your story is not unique among many young Catholics. I myself experienced the same and I studied apologetics under the tetulage of the St. Peter's Men Society in Quiapo. Now, I have become a full pledged Catholic Apologist in my own right.
All you have to do is read the Bible regularly even 1 chapter per day only. Start from the Gospel until the Book of Revelation. Take notes of the important passages that you've discovered or read. Then read also the Catechism of the Catholic Church and frequently visit Catholic Apologetic Blogs like this one. Again, have a notebook where you gather your notes and important passages. Soon you will be well-equipped to defend the faith.
Always ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to the truth and grant you the grace to defend our faith with conviction and clarity.

ReplyDeleteDuring These months I expose my self in defending the faith, and I learn a lot from here and other blog site called in defense of the church na palagi ako diyan nag co-comment at nakikipag argue especially sa mga Manalista, One thing that makes me interested to defend the faith is when I watched the Karl Keating vs. Ventilacion Debate. And that I've seen Karl keating Defend it with dignity and in very calm manner.
I just want to ask you,
What are basic things to do apologetics?
in order to defend our Faith in an excellent way with unexpected situations like for example if one of your friends asks you about the doctrines that they really object? And to convince them not to leave the Church.
Because honestly I'm not still well equipped with these and just starting to learn.

* THE LORD JESUS IS UNMARRIED except with the Church as His Bride.
* St. Peter said he left 'ALL' for Jesus.
* St. Paul is not married.
* How about the other apostles? Who among them are married? Are Mark and Luke married? Are Timothy and Titus married? Chapter and verse please.
* Are Barnabas and Silas married?
[With this very clear passage, a man without a wife is not qualified to become a bishop.]

THESE ARE THE THINGS TO DO:
1. PRAY A LOT TO THE LORD JESUS TO GIVE YOU THE HOLY SPIRIT AND OPEN THE TRUTH OF FAITH IN YOUR HEART AND MIND.
2. READ AND READ THE BIBLE. BE FAMILIAR WITH IT. HAVE AN APOLOGETIC NOTEBOOK THAT YOU ALWAYS CARRY WITH YOU AS GUIDE. DON'T BE AFRAID TO WRITE OR MARK YOUR APOLOGETIC BIBLE SO THAT YOU CAN EASILY TRACE OR FIND THE IMPORTANT VERSES.
3. READ AND BE FAMILIAR WITH THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SO THAT YOU ARE GROUNDED ON TRUE FAITH.
4. LEARN FROM APOLOGETIC SITES LIKE THIS ONE. RESEARCH AND RESEARCH.
5. BE FAMILIAR WITH THE BASIC AND COMMON QUESTIONS AND ATTACKS FROM THE ENEMIES. KNOW YOUR FAITH AND KNOW YOUR ENEMIES. PREPARE FOR THEM. KNOW THEIR WEAKNESSES AS WELL.
6. IF YOU ARE ASKED QUESTIONS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER TELL THE ONE ASKING THAT YOU WILL PROVIDE THE ANSWER LATER. DON'T TRY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS THAT YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR. WRITE THE QUESTION AND RESEARCH IT OR ASKED HELP OF THE SEASONED CATHOLIC APOLOGISTS.

ReplyDeleteI saw the video of the debate between inc and catholic with Carl Keating. Sinubaybayan ko talaga from part 1 till part 20. Grabeh ang exchange of ideas. Pero lugi si Carl Keating kong totoosin kasi 3 sa Inc while nag iisa lang xa. Pero Sigoro nanalo si Keating. Di ko gusto ang mga pamamaraan sa debate ni ventilacion kasi di pa nga tapos si keating sa pagsasalita, nag ba butt-in na kaagad si Ventilacion. Saka, I got confused which one they were debating on when the topic was "which one is the true church". As far as I observed parang dinebati ni Ventilacion kong sino ba si Peter or kong xa ba ay Rock or Stone. Nakakalito. Saka nag ibang issue na si Keating nung nag cross question si Ventilacion, same question pa rin related sa previous topic. hahay. Ambot nimo Ventilacion kong diin ka pag Hunas. :)
