Good Day to you Father!!!
I am a member of our Holy Catholic Church and I just want to ask regarding about the problem of my friend - a lay minister.He was asking about the official stand of our church pertaining to quack doctors' practice. He told me that he has an amulet inherited from his grandfather to be used for healing sick persons but he said that he was not practicing diwata -diwata. He did not even ask any money for his service.
What can you tell about this father?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY 'QUACK DOCTOR'?
IS HE AN ALBULARYO WHO SIMPLY USES HIS TALENTS THROUGH HILOT AND NATURAL HERBS TO EFFECT HEALING TO THE SICK? IS HE AN UNEDUCATED MAN WHO PRACTICES THE ART OF HEALING USING NATURAL ELEMENTS? IS HE A MAN WHO HEALS OTHERS BY CALLING ON 'spirits' or 'engkanto' or 'dwende' or 'diwatas' FOR POWER TO EFFECT HEALING?
IF HE IS SIMPLY DOING HILOT AND USING NATURAL HERBS OR ELEMENTS FOR HEALING THEN IT IS A NATURAL TALENT. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. BUT IF HE IS CALLING ON 'spirits' THEN THAT IS EVIL. BECAUSE THE ELEMENTAL SPIRITS OF THESE WORLD ARE MALIGNANT SPIRITS. IT IS EVIL AND IT IS AGAINST THE FAITH OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. IT IS CALLED DIVININATIONS. THAT IS CONTRARY TO THE FAITH AS EXPLAINED IN CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH #2116.

AMULETS? AMULETS OR ANTING-ANTING IS CONTRARY TO THE CATHOLIC FAITH. WE DO NOT BELIEVE IN AMULETS. THE AMULETS HAVE NO GENUINE POWERS. IF THEY ARE USED BY DEMONIC POWERS THEY APPEAR TO BE POWERFUL BUT IN REALITY THEY ARE NOT. THE SO-CALLED POWER OF AMULETS COMES FROM THE DEVIL AND HIS LEGIONS WHO APPEARED IN DIFFERENT FORMS: DUWENTE, KAPRE, TIKBALANG, ETC.
