Mary is the mother of the earthly Jesus, not God. Jesus pre- existed from everlasting as God (see John 1:1). When He came to redeem mankind, He laid aside His glory and was made like unto sinful man so that He could take our punishment (Hebrew 2:9). God has no mother. He has lived from everlasting.
So kung ipipilit nanaman ng iba na si Mary ang Mother of God, wala talagang magagawa. Pakiunawa nalang ng mabuti. Salamat.

Fr.Abe, you explained this beautifully! Your 100% correct, to say Jesus is Earthly is completely heretical, most born agains even know that much! Also scripture tells us,"In the beginning was God and with God was the word, and the word and God were one, and the word became flesh!" This clearly tells us that Jesus&God were one and the same. Also scripture tells us that Jesus was tempted in ALL things things But never committed a sin which obviously tells us Jesus is heavenly. and the fact that Elizabeth tells Mary,"who am I that the mother of my LORD should visit me?" shows that the Mother of the LORD was indeed extremely important& to be respected & loved. If we love our Lord so dearly how can we not love his mother just as much?!? If we as humanslove our mothers with all our hearts & would do anything for her, imagine how much more Jesus loves his mother! Jesus loves us and died for all of us, so imagine the love he has for his mother? To not love her, respect her & be thankful to her is a smack in the face to our lord! If people respect the apostles how can they not give the same respect to the one that said yes to the lord, the one who cared and raised our savior, bathed and cleaned him, loved and breast fed him, caressed and taught him their traditions. People who can not see this must be blind! This is why we are blessed to be Catholics!

ReplyDeletemadalas ko pong binabasa ang blog ninyo. i am thankful for you and the others here who continue to defend our faith. wala na ako sa school but reading your blog helped me a lot in increasing my knowledge about out faith.
When i was reading the topic posted, naalala ko bigla yung isang theology class ko regarding the councils, specifically the council of Ephesus where na-formalize na si Mary ay "Mother of God" din. I really liked the term na lumabas sa council na yun which was "theotokos" (God bearer). With the biblical basis you gave po, I concluded na never nag-deviate ang mga early Church fathers sa teachings of the faith. They were very consistent.
I remembered my theology professor also saying na if Mary only conceived an "earthly" Jesus, how was He able to bear our sins and save humankind? Only God is capable of doing a grand scale act like that. Also, kung "earthly" Jesus lang ang isinilang, this is clearly dividing yung nature ni Jesus who is 100% human and 100% divine. The Bible, as well as the early Church fathers (lalo na po yung mga nasa Council of Nicea), were very consistent with this.
with Mary's title as the "theotokos," napagnilayan ko rin po na Mary is not just literally the one who bore and conceived the second person of the Trinity. Mary herself, "bore" throughout her life, the teachings of God, even at the most desperate and saddest moments of her life. All the more,this proves how deserving she truly is that all generations will call her "blessed."
